This is a web forum, what do you expect?

I got 18.6 mpg on my last tank with city and some highway driving. That's about what I used to get with OEM gears.

i clearly understand that this WILL effect gas milage but i just want to know on average by how much....and for someone to test this out stock vs modded will be hard/impossible to do just to prove a point but if someone has good knowledge of the physics of the gearbox and engine, please enlighten us.
It really depends. Your fuel consumption is generally based on the energy output of your engine. Basically if your engine is revving higher you're using more fuel. Fuel usage varies by driver though. Depending on your driving style you could potentially loose a lot of MPG. But on average I honestly think it'll be between 1-2 mpg.

I know gas prices are high right now but from the gains you'll get with the gears I don't think you should be too concerned. If you're observant you'll notice a slight decrease but when people say "it was terrible" I don't think they mean they lost half their mpg or anything like that.

To be honest I think the people who saw drastic decreases in their MPG were out there gunning it to redline through every gear when they got the new final drive kit. But that's where the fun is =)

Higher ratio rear gearing, within limits, generally does not affect your city miles per gallon. You will just end up driving in the overdrive gear sooner and more often. It will reduce your highway miles per gallon, probably on the order of 3 to 4 mpg.

I just drove from St. Petersburg to Gainesville, and back, with 4.08 gears. I was going 80 mph most of the time, plus we drove around Gainesville and I got stuck in a traffic jam on I-4 on the way home for 20 minutes.

I went 299.1 miles and averaged 20.578 miles per gallon.
