Default The front bumper intake holes.

You know those intake holes people cut into their bumpers for more direct airflow into the air box/filter? I know that there's more of a reason to do those for the turbo setups, but I see others doing it with just intakes. Has anyone with an 07 or 08 done these? We'd need two. Anyone have a pic?

Dude, I'm here to tell you. I think it makes a difference. It can look like poop if you don't do it right. I did it right. The theme of my Z is to be of a serious nature. Everything I do to it has a functional purpose. I got my ducts off ebay. Do not use rivets as everyone suggests. Use 3/4 in self tapping screws. You have more control. And no stress fractures as I've seen on friends' cars. My car is black and CF looks good, but I've heard of others having theirs painted to match. My neighbor, a gunsmith grounded the heads for a chromed look. I reccomend stillen intakes b/c of protective covers and plastic covers also absorb heatsoak. I didn't expect much difference in low end, but growl is noticeable from the start. PM me if you're serious about this. I'd love to help.

My old setup - I honestly felt much better throttle response and torque...filters got pretty dirty but the dual K&N are easy and quick to clean.

Well, I can't see the pics cuz I'm at work. So I can't comment on that.

Phibz, I have a PPW Z, and am thinking about doing something like this while keeping the stock intakes with K&N dropins, but I'm still contemplating a few things. First: Rain water getting into the air box. Do not want this to happen. Second: You said that the filters get dirt fast. Regular intake filters seem like they are easy to clean, right? Third: My ducts would be painted to match my white, but I am still wrestling with the look of it. Not sure if I like the look for my car.

1: I drove around like this for about a year - No problems in rain - honestly you wouldn't get enough water in there to damage your engine but you'd get a HP+ with the cool water charge.
2: Regular as in stock? If so, you can't scrub them down and clean them like the K&N's
3: Just do it and paint them later - I'd go with the dual CF's w/intake tubing

1. Water charge?

2. I mean the stock intake boxes with the K&N drop in filters that just replace the stock filters.

Water charge as in the small amount of water vapor that passes through the filter would have a super cooling effect on the air sucked into the intake manifold - kinda like a super cold air intake....I know this will get bashed but its true.

I don't think anyone should worry about water getting into the engine. Unless you're driving in a monsoon then you shouldn't have problems.

One issue is dirtying up the MAF. Too much of anything (water, dirt, oil from K&N's) can end up on the sensor causing issues. I think as long as you keep the filters clean and dont apply too much oil if using K&N's you'd be OK.

In reference to the oil, that would be after years of running those type of filters and using too much oil.

I really dont like how that looks, as much as i want it for a performance gain. This weekend I'm going to look at the possibility of running some duct from the bumper opening up into the air inlets in front of the filter. Just an idea I been running thru my head while at work.
