Technosquare or Cobb?

I've got a few questions I thought maybe some of you could help me with. I want to keep, and will keep, my Z NA. I've done alot of research on the Technosquare ECU reflash and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Cobb unit. Any pros or cons? Does it eliminate the hesitation between throttle input and the fly-by-wire throttle body like Technosquare? Also, does anyone know of any tuners that could do a custom tune on the Z that's fairly close to the Florida Panhandle?
My Z has Nismo intakes and an HKS catback as it sits, but will have headers and HFC's before getting the tune.

I used to have the TS Reflash for my turbo Z. Wasn't good at all nor was it safe but this was specific to my application only. I don't know anything about the Cobb product but is it tuneable? Is it a piggyback-type deal?

Yeah like I said, I haven't looked in to the Cobb too much. Just trying to get some info on it. From what I've seen it looks like a piggy back though.

Allright. Sorry for being so lazy. Looked up some info on the Cobb Access Port and it looks like it does quite a bit. Pretty impressive. Still wondering if it eliminates the lag for throttle response. Any other pros?
i just picked up the cobb tuner and im installing it on monday. i did a pre dyno run last week and im going to do a dyno run after i get it loaded. the cobb is tunable, they are going to be selling the software around the end of the year. so im putting the stage 2 program on my 07 nismo and ill get it tuned better once the software is released to the shops.
I've used Cobb in the past with my STi and got decent results. Its not a piggyback but it reflashes the ECU via the OBDII port. You get around 99 re-flashes before the ECU goes dead. (At least that was the story with the subaru.) But you have options how to flash the ecu. You can do a full flash which takes about 10 minutes and uses up one of your reflashes. OR you can do a realtime flash which you can do on the fly, by pulling over for about 1 minute and it does not use up any of your flashes. Maps are downloadable from the Cobb site and on occasion you can find other peoples maps. Once the Cobb dealers/tuner get the ProTune software for thier shops, you can custom tune at any Cobb Protune shop.
I sold my STi before i got a protune, but i ran a stage 2 with Launch control for about a year. It definitely fixed some hiccups the engine was having running un-tuned. I got gobs of power down low. I got about +30hp/+30trq gain (flywheel) from a off the shelf map.
It pretty freaking handly too. It reads ECU codes, puts out live data, measures performance...etc. I know i used the ECU code reader a few times with the Subbie and it saved me some headaches. And the live data was pretty neat as it never had a boost gauge on my sti. I just velcro'd the AP to the dash and voila....instant boost gauge.
Im looking forward to picking mine up soon too. Im really interested how the car will feel since they included aftermarket intakes into the equation. I know alot of people swear that the OEM intakes are the best and yet Cobb felt that aftermarket intakes with a tune is better. Cobb usually is very good with this and will tell you not to use something to get better numbers. With my STi they pretty much told people NO intakes at all, other than a custom tune with a larger turbo/inlet pipe...etc.

Thanks for all that info. I'm leanin' more towards the Cobb. I can't believe you actually went through 99 re-flashes on the Sube. That's crazy, yo.

Basiclly does the same as the Cobb, but they also have a tuner version that allows you create custom tunes. Its pricey though, the tuner version is $900 and the version that allows you to read ECU codes and upload maps from Uprev is $700. Pricey if you ask me, but I'm willing to spend the cash if its worth it. I'll look into the Cobb product, seems promising.

Cobb just stated that the OEM ECU ROM can only be re-written 99 times before the ROM will fail. I don't know if that applies at all cars, or if it was Subie specific.
You only really need to reflash the ECU once. Most maps can be realtime flashed (loaded into the RAM) and it never hurts your ECU. It just loads the map into the RAM and stays there until you reset the ECU or disconnect the battery. The hard ROM flash, burns the map into the ECU permanently.
