I can afford all my bills plus rent or a mortgage until gas peaks $5 a gallon, then I have to cut back on something (I'd start with insurance on my truck- raise the deductables).

Stop B.S. ing. You lost control of your car because you were fooling around and speeding. Get something more affordable and get your priority straight. Get something with less power until you learn how to drive safely.
