Default Finally got my Fast Intentions Intimidator and HFC's installed.

Took me a while to get it, and a while to find a place to install it as well. But the results were definately worth the wait. I decided to get the High Flow Cats at the same time as the exhaust just to get them both out of the way. No test pipes for me, would still like to pass emissions in MA.

Sound: It sounds absolutely fantastic throughout almost all of the revs. The sharpest and meanest sound is from 3k to 5k revs. My fuel economy went to sh*t because I couldn't stop myself from revving. Oh well. There is no rasp, which was extremely important for me. There are a couple of negatives too. It drones at 2k rpm, which is where I usually keep it at on the road. So that may have to change. And from 2250 rpm to 2750 rpm it is very quiet. Almost sounds stock when you're just driving in that range. But it can be good as well because I live in a quiet neighborhood, so I know where it'll be the quietest. Overall it sounds amazing. And I will try to get some vids and pics later on.

Performance: Well, this was the part I wasn't too concerned with. But I have to say that I am very pleased with the outcome. I cannot tell you that it feels like there is more horsepower now, but the car just goes so much smoother. It feels like there's almost nothing holding it back. The revs climb much more freely now, and the car feels almost lighter. If I put my stock setup back on I'd think it was much slower than this. Maybe it's just me but shifting is a lot smoother now too. There isn't any of that little "kick" after switching gears at the 2500rpm range I used to get. I love the car so much more now.

The folks at Fast Intentions made a great exhaust. I would recommend this setup to everyone that has an HR Z. You won't be disappointed.

drone ftl, i have it with my setup but i think its for the most part unavoidable with most free flowing exhausts.

Yeah, it's a bit annoying, but avoidable if I rev 250rpms higher, so it's not that bad.

i never notice a drone because i just turn up the radio, but whenever a friend rides with me those always ask if my exhaust ever pisses me of because of the cabin noise and such.

Awsome man. I know you've been waiting a long time to get this setup. Glad you like it. I have to say that every single sound clip online cannot convey the beautiful sound this exhaust makes troughout all the revs in real life. Hopefully you got a good microphone and can supply the best sounds clips we've heard to date

Don't worry too much about your neighbors... I thought mine was crazy loud due to the drone also, but I recently let my GF drive my car while I followed in hers (she was having engine problems), and it actually sounds louder from inside than it does from outside!!! Just try not to WOT in your neighborhood... LOL

Yeah, I've been looking forward to this thing for a while now. And your setup really was the biggest motivating factor to go with FI. Thank you very much for your contribution to the HR community.

And the closest sound that I found of it is this clip. Especially after it passes the mic. Pure awesome.

This is the clip that convinced me to get the FI:

<embed src="http://videos.streetfire.net/vidiac.swf?video=6122a578-9def-40fe-b783-991c013267c6" width="428" height="352" allowFullScreen="true" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"></embed><br/><a href="http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Fast-Intentions-Exhaust_114146.htm">Fast Intentions Intimidator Exhaust, 400Cell HFC, </a>

And with metallic HFCs it sounds even better!!!

+1000 This is a wierd concept that it sounds louder inside than outside but if you think about it thats how you want it to be. Enjoyable and loud for you and quiet for your neighbors

Sounds cool but I don't like the bird sounds coming from your engine.

Mmmm, the video isn't of my car. But it is the closest video I could find to what it sounds like for real. Mine is a tad bit louder I think.

It's because drone is related to cabin resonances, and not the exhaust alone. The fixed cabin space has a resonant frequency and when an exhaust gives off that frequency it causes the cabin resonance. I don't have a degree in acoustics or anything, but I suspect it has to do a lot with the muffler. I think with aftermarket exhausts, the mufflers are fairly lightweight compared to an OEM design, and theres probably quite a bit more sound bleeding through the skin of the muffler. I'm guessing here, but I think when that frequency hits the resonant frequency of the cabin, thats where the drone is coming from, since the muffler is typically located under the cabin space. It's in a prime location to "excite" the cabin.
