Theres been some research done on oval ports vs square ports, and square ports don't begin to perform better than their oval counterparts until some radical amount of lift (greater than 14mm).
As for the lower manifold and runners, I'd imagine the square runners are strictly for increased cross sectional area, while occupying the same amount of metal/space.

But again, all I can imagine for the runners being square, was that it was a spacing issue inside the manifold and square allowed for more area (or the same area) in less space, but that makes for a power compromise I'd think.
I also note we said the same thing

Right, saw a lot of research in pushrod motors regarding square vs round port and round port almost always won for power production.

I wouldn't doubt there's a bit of a power compromise, but given the space constraints, it must have been the lesser of 2 evils. Since we seem to be on the same page, the question that bothers me about the HR, is what it's truly capable of with a set of cams more aggressive than the 248s and some tuned length headers.

It doesn't compromise power production, but it can really compromise your idle.

5psi is weak which is why I would need an engine build and let's just say I don't have dumptrucks full of cash like you do to go through an engine build and two sets of twins

Hey A.H. weren't you supposed to get the manifold about a week or two ago? I think I remember reading a post about that. I might be wrong though and I don't feel like reading for an hour to check so I figured I would ask instead.

We are still here and we have not done anymore dyno testing yet. We are continually working on the manifold. There have been a few minor changes made, we are trying to make it perform successfully in one try. It is still on the way, we will post the pictures before the dyno results. Again, we will not give up until we produce a manifold that makes significant power.
