On a somewhat different note, but still related.. Anyone know what the deal is with all these vendors on the net saying Koyo rads fit all the way up to 07 model? Are they all morons or do they know something we don't? 07's guts are different from earier years, right? I mean... if those rads work on an 07 why not an 08? ('course for me, it wouldn't matter. If they actually fit the 07, I'm golden.) Anyway, am I the only one who's frustrated by this? Almost every online shop I visit says the Koyo fits 03-07... And most of them say Mishimotos fit ALL year models... And yet, here we are.

Adam- I saw what you said, I'm just hoping against hope that someone might be out there with a secret none of us have heard yet.

You answered your own question

There are alot of vendors on the web - way too many in fact - not every one has a Z (of any year) and less that actually are capable enough to work on the car even if they did have one. They simply take what the manufacturer feeds to them as gospel, and that's it. It's one of the reasons our site is so limited in terms of the cars we cater to. We stick to selling what we know. Sure, there are other cars we can supply for (and stock parts for too actually), but the cars on the site are the ones we know well. I don't care about being all things to all people - I just want those that get stuff to get the right stuff, the first time, without having to guess as to whether or not it works.

There is no radiator on the planet that fits both an 03-06 and an 07 + without additional work. The outlets are in different places for the hoses, the thermostat is in a different location on the engine. The center to center distances on the upper and lower mounting points are the same, but the hoses are completely different. That is why Samco makes hoses for the 03-06, and the 07 + - they look nothing alike and are not swappable. Mishimoto's stuff barely fits the 03-06 - it will absolutely not fit the 07 +. On a similar note, Mishimoto says their radiator panel fits 03-08 cars too. I'm here to tell you it won't even fit an '03 because it wasn't made properly. It's like they didn't even have a car in the first place (but I digress)

So far, seems that Koyo will be first. Stands to reason, as they were the first for the DE too. I have one of their very early units on my car. We'll get some on order as soon as they confirm part # and pricing with us

So is the primary reason for incompatibility the hose configuration? Or are there dimensional issues? If so, could you get a "universal" rad and fan with flexible hoses and call it a day? I've been trying to find somewhere that lists the OEM dimensions of the rad and fan on the off chance that I can just pick up something universal but I havn't found anything yet. I'm inoperable until I get a new rad.. :\ While that's ok for now, lacking wheels is profoundly inconvenient. And if I can get something aftermarket for cheaper or close to the same price as OEM, I'd rather do that.

Sorry if I'm asking dumb questions; this is a constant learning experience for me. And I'm a desperate fool and the end of his pitiful rope.
