vq35hr motor that needs more power
Hey i purchased a 07 350z and which you all know has the vq35hr motor in it, i already put all of the bolt ons that i could think of, the only thing missing is a tune, but i wanted to whether i should go with a forced induction or just re-work the internals and keep it N/A.. How much could i possibly get out of a N/A engine, and which one would be more reliable?? any suggestions will do..
If your aiming for anymore than 350-400whp then your going to need forced induction because to get that much out of the motor N/A you will really start to cut down on reliability
Inaccuracy at it's finest. With the right parts 350-400whp is possible. Those numbers will go much higher with a TT HR. If it's done right, then I don't see how it won't be reliable.

Nissan offers a 5-yr/60,000 mile engine/powertrain warranty. Name 1 shop that will offer the same, on a fully in-house built engine/powertrain.

I do think that most people on this forum will agree that you should not Boost your DD without expecting that you may be needing to tweak it relatively often.

Yeah you guys are making really good points there but I think I'm going to be putting down some serious cash for my motor and make it as fast as I can without turbos for now... anybody here know where I can get good pistons camshaft stroker kit jus anything for the internals, and also I need to know a few places that sell or tune ecu's

You made a point about how it would be reliable if the motor was built. Would it be more reliable than running boost on an OEM motor, yes. Will it offer as much reliability as say an OEM turbo motor, hard to say, but my best educated guess would be, no. Probably not even close.
Honestly, anyone with an HR, a realistic goal is 50whp gain from stock, on an untouched longblock. In dynojet speak, aim for 300whp, if you come a little short, it's ok, if you go over, more power to you.
If building the block, I think 350whp is a nice realistic goal, on a standard dynojet that is. Otherwise, 70-90whp over stock. This is an expensive route too.
For anything above 350whp, for reliability sake, just swap an LSX or a VK.

get all your n/a parts... intake, test pipes, full exhaust, maybe even headers an then get an UPREV tune. You'll see a big difference... check out my boy's 07HR thread... search under his name... "Phenom"
