VQ35HR Mods and Support related to the 2007/08 High Revving VQ

Is the VQ35HR that much better than non-rev up?

The oil dipstick in the DE is a royal PITA to use. go try one. it's hard to get the dipstick back into, and it also shares an oil return passage from the head to the oil pan so it takes about 10 mins for the oil to drain out of the head and down that passage so you can adequately check your oil without the entire dipstick gettin wet with oil all the way up.
I absolutely hate the effed up dipstick on the DE. Even if it was supposed to be in the front for a FWD car, it's odd bends and quirks would still aggravate me. Bill - we still need to do a friendly side-by-side! My car will be ready in a week.

Only if you promise to use lubrication ;-)

I dunno if the HR powah can overcome your weight loss savings. what is your car? 250-300# lighter then mine?

I'm still down though

if you have an HR and can't hit a 13.27, you can NOT drive. This was in my COMPLETELY STOCK 2007 350z-HR.
-i'm 6'5'', 245lbs. I'm sure MAJORITY of people are probably smaller and lighter than me.

and who said an HR with full bolt ons and tune can't hit 12's?
-WTF, let me get what you're smoking.

Full bolt ons and tune in a HR-Z you can get low 12's.

learn to drive people..

Are you going to try and mod it for power? If so... the non-rev up is a WAY better option. If I hadn't gotten an hr, I'd probably have a 400whp rev-up right now instead of selling the z.

Edit: dude above me is smoking crack. No way are you hitting 12.3's on an hr w/ bolt on's and a tune. No ****ing way.

Why not, I've seen 12.5 on an HR without being fully bolted

lol... At sea level with perfect conditions that time might be possible but not in most places. And I would imagine you'd need veeeery sticky tires and gears to run low 12s with just bolt ons.

In my opinion.... the HR has it, yea the Rev up has higher tq and with bolt ons, and puts down more power to a.... wait for it.... STOCK HR.... DUH Throw some bolt ons on a HR and a tune and if you love NA a 4.08 gear and haz fun........ I had and 06 and now own a 07!!!! Big difference. The HR is an amazing motor. However the only issue I see with the HR is the lack of choice on engine parts like the DE's and rev up's. Hopefully that will change

The power delivery is so different between both the HR and the DE, I don't like the HR on the low end but it's awesome at mid/high. Feels a lot smoother throughout the power band, I prefer the DE after driving both of them but that's my opinion.

Yea i can see the low end power for the rev ups. But I love the way the HR breaths and feels to me everything feels smoother. I love the high reving trust i have in the HR, When drive it and get on the little right side pedal and the rpms keep going and going and it sounds amazing when you get close to the 8000 mark. In the end it is the drivers choice and different set ups will do different things. So to each his own

Puts on fire retardant suit, slips on gloves, takes big swig of water, puts on helmet, opens the door and enters thread, asks the following question...

So what is an HR Z with say intakes, HFC's/TP's, Exhaust, a Tune, and some slightly sticker/wider tires capble of down the quarter (assuming ideal condictions)?

I know it is just shooting the sheet, but I feel like I am in a "hanging out and having beer" type of mood.

What is the car capable of with say a set of 408's after that?

I have seen vids and read that the car is capable of 13.1 and people have seen as high as 109mph stock...and seen it stated that people have seen 111mph (with bolt ons...of what I dont know).

Granted, you throw in driver mod and the assumptions will be all over the place

PS:...and yes...I ask this as it is all I have planned for an '08. So if anyone has some ideas/info or true proof of capabilities, please allow me and others to daydream and wish

...closes helmet visor, awaits the outcome...

I see 12.5 and slower here: http://www.dragtimes.com/results.php...arch+DragTimes

I see 12.5 and higher here: https://my350z.com/forum/drag/233840...ons-stock.html

Educated dart throw: mid-upper 12s with bolt-ons and slicks; very high 12s/low 13s with bolt-ons and an exceptional driver. Low 13s with your everyday riffraff driver.

In regards to the forum posts on 1/4, I havent seen anyone post a 12 sec time slip with an HR and basic bolt ons like the ones I listed (may have missed it).

12.5@110mph with only those mods for the dude in the dragtimes post ...he does have gears, but with that and radials maybe...still nuts!

To be honest...I actually used that Top list to decide to buy an HR a year ago and I do reference it every so often. Come to think of it, not sure what I was thinking, maybe I was too focused on the specific bolt-ons I listed vs. associated times to expect with them...I see DR/Slicks and I go into (that is not on my list mode)

Thanks for the inputs on the ranges Scott, happy to see some solid potential coming out of our cars!
