Default Some thoughts on the quote I got.

As just about everybody, I've spent a lot of time putting research/money into my car. I've been looking into putting twin turbos on, which is also like just about everybody else.

Here's what I'm looking at right now:

GTM gave me a quote of $11.5K for a Stage 2 twin turbo setup with a tune.

I've looked into Injected Performance to see about getting a quote from them on the Greddy kit, but have not gotten any response back.

I've also attempted to get some info from STS, and have not gotten a response back their either. I would actually like to know a shop to try and get ahold of to look into this one a little more.

I've pretty much ignored the HKS kit.

Some thoughts on the above would be cool, along with some answers to questions below.

GTM told me they have been installing an OS Giken twin plate on our cars for anyone who upgraded their clutch with a TT kit. They say none of the vehicles the have built have had any CSC issues. (They also mentioned that nobody keeping the stock clutch had any issues either.) As I understood it, the CSC was eventually a guaranteed failure on any clutch except stock or ATS, aside from attempting copy ATS's steps to correct the problem. What's the deal? Is a twin plate going to be strong enough in the long run for that kit?

Any other suggestions for making it to 400hp, 400 lb/ft on the pavement other than twin turbo kits I mentioned? I just did the normal circuit of asking the shops about superchargers to be thorough, and nobody has a timeline yet. As far as I'm tracking, getting to those numbers N/A is also pretty much out of the question when you compare the money.

Other than that, how's everybody doing?

11 1/2 G's with an OS Giken twin plate clutch and flywheel? Thats pretty descent price IMO.

I was Quoted $8,000 for a GTM stage 2 kit installed and tuned with the stock clutch. When i do go through with it, there are a couple extra bells & whistles I want.

-GTM stage 2 kit
-OS Giken twin disk clutch & flywheel
-Innovate AFR guage
- Boost guage
- water temp guage
- oil temp guage
- AAM oil pan spacer
- Stillen oil cooler

You could also make 400 WHP with a good Nitrous system with an extra fuel map if using UpRev. There are several members here with HR's on Spray.

Kil'Jaden,

I apologize as we have not contacted you back regarding your build. Would you please call us at (888) 465-7373 or email us at sales@injectedperformance.com. I might be mistaken but we don't have any records of going over a build with you. I apologize for the lack of response.

Thank you.

i'd recommend going with a gtm oil cooler kit over the stillen cause the gtm uses thermostatic oil adapter, where as the stillen just uses a plain adapter. not to mention the gtm one is cheaper...

I wasn't aware that Stillen's kit didn't come with a thermostatic adapter?! I'm pretty sure it does. I'd have to call them up and ask now.

I can pickup a thermostatic kit if need be! I'm not blowing crazy cash on an oil cooler. lol Its very simple to build and install them yourself. Not sure how much the GTM oil cooler kits are.

$8k for our stage 2 twin turbo kit, installed and tuned? That doesn't sound right given that our kit is $8k in parts alone. Do you happen to remember who you talked to? There may have been some misunderstanding/miscommunication regarding pricing and I would like to be sure that you don't end up with any surprises.

Thanks,
-Mike

Performance Motorsports expressed that price to my buddy Blueballz and I... They have yet to Boost an HR or a Nismo for that matter! I'm sure that price won't stand by the time I commit to it but yeah not a bad price indeed. I'm sure it involves some sponsorship.

Maybe its possible they ment a Stage 1 kit. How much is the price differance in parts?

I would be looking for 500 WHP reliably. Would also like the kit to be capable of supporting 550-625 WHP if I decide to build my block. But thats all a long long ways down the road. lol

Well, the price difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 is $500. That's just the price difference between the GT2860RS with a .64A/R exhaust housing and the .86A/R exhaust housing.

One of the biggest advantages of our kit is the scalability we designed into them. For example, you are currently looking for a reliable 500whp which correlates to our stage 2 kit. If you build the motor later on and want more power, simply swap the turbos with some bigger snails and bam...more power.

I should but I don't want to do it half assed! I figure its gonna run at least 12 G's to do it the way I want.

I can't justify blowing that much cash right now with the way the economy is. Its gonna have to wait.
