Default NA all the way

Money not being an object, how much power could you squeeze out of an HR without going FI?

I did some searching to try and find an answer, no luck. Looking at getting my first Z in a couple months, want to stay NA and theres alot of arguing about which parts and how much of a difference they make, if any at all. Seems alot harder to bolt-on mod this engine for performance than I thought.

Depends on how much bling you have.. check out Fontana Nissan's 350Z or Adam from Z1's NA build.

Search is your only friend here.

You will be far happier and much richer going F/I on a stock block if you will be happy with the power levels that a N/A HR could ever put out. Especially with promising offerings from GTM now.

Pretty sure you're mistaken there. A full race motor like something offered here could do it. But nothing you find in a street car will even be approaching the power levels youre talking about.

True. If you're cool with having a full rebuild every few weeks, then be my guest.

Because a racing motor is going to be pushing the performance envelope to the absolute maximum. You can't expect that kind of performance and get year-in and year-out reliability without regular and frequent rebuilds. They use the best components possible, but they're under such huge stress factors they'd never be able to last for months on end without having bearing, springs, etc, replaced.

Come back when you buy a Z.

i want one so bad its gonna be hard to resist buying it while on RnR. I know im new, and i dont know much about cars/engines in general, but im learning. and i did alot more searching, its just hard to find HR specific NA builds. then whenever i find one, or anything related to bolt-on modding an HR, there is sooo much disagreement about the results and the parts used etc etc.

I didnt think it would take so long for parts to hit the market for say 07 model cars, or maybe its just Z related. again... noob to modding

The HR is the ugly duckling. You're just not going to make much power doing NA mods to it. Tons of support for the DE and tons for the VHR, we're in between and love to get blown. So to answer the first question from your post, you can't expect to make much more than what it's making already. Plan on 30-40WHP with IHE and a wonderful tune. For about the same price you can go F/I, be reliable, and be happier. I promise.

There will ALWAYS be someone with more money (and less sense of responsibility) who'll be able to outrun you, so what's the point?
