Default Better place for oil temp sensor on HR

Looking for a better place to mount my oil temp sensor as it seems I'm reading extremely high oil temps (290 - 310F) under light driving conditions. I'm running the temp sensor just before the pressure sensor with a T fitting connecting directly to the block. I suspect the block temp is heating the T fitting and throwing off the temp numbers. Is there a similar location I can simply screw in a 1/8 NPT T and grab more accurate oil temperatures?

FWIW, I'm running a setrab oil cooler upfront (front of radiator off bumper) so I should not see anything close to this high under light driving.

Thanks in advance for those with quality input.

yeah that is kind of high, I am also running a Sertrab and sandwiched between radiator and intercooler and I read normally around 190-210 during normal driving in nice hot South Florida, it only ventures higher when I push the car hard

Mine is on a JWT oil pan spacer

its not an HR but should be close enough

Ya, I like the idea of running out of the pan but lack the skills to make it happen. I'm also running a sandwich plate and thought about drilling and tapping a spot, but the MOCAL thermostatic plate doesn't give you much room to work with.

Next option would be setting up something on the hose to the OC, but just looking for more solid options than an inline solution. I'm already thinking the pan approach is the right way to go and just need to bite the bullet for a new pan to disfigure.

When I use Cipher to monitor my stock sensor (HR) I get about the same temps as Westpak and I am also using a Setrab between the radiator and intercooler. I am using a Mocal thermostatic plate as well.

^^ I just use the stock sensor with my scantool... but I think your sensor may be wacky, because even in that location the oil shouldn't get over 230 or so with light driving in the summer, look into your sending unit as a possibility...

check your wiring too.. the temp sensors are based on resistance. If you have a bad or weak splice, it can give a wrong reading.

Looks like I crushed part of the sensor when I tried using the GTM oil pressure spacer... sensor tip was just too long.. frack... these things look like they are 80 bucks to replace... pricey little meatball.

Sucks man, sorry to hear that. At least it's an easy fix though
