Default Transmission issues in the 08 NISMO

Yes, I did a search and found some issues but not exactly what I am dealing with. The car does have just over 50k. Could these issues just mean I need a new clutch? Here is what it's doing.

Problem #1: If I start the car and then take it out of gear the car actually jolts a little bit when I take my foot off of the clutch and brake (with the emergency brake on). Almost like it's still in gear but only does a small jolt and then it's fine.

Problem #2: If I down shift from 6th to 5th, I have to do it VERY SLOWLY or it grinds pretty bad. (Maybe just my driving?) Only does it from 6th to 5th, no other gears.

Problem #3: When the engine is cold, it's almost impossible to shift gears. Once it warms up it's fine.

So do I need a new clutch? Are #1 and #3 just because of the temp and something I have to just deal with (or make sure I warm the car up)? Is #2 just me being a bad driver?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your trans fluid. My 08 was 1/2 pint low with only 11K miles.
You should might as well get a trans fluid flush at 50K.

Redline is a good option if you're not using OEM fluid.

take it to nissan and have them look at it.. but start taking action before your 60k powertrain warranty is over.

+1 It is very likely to be the synchros or fluid... either way, best to have it looked at before your warranty expires and you're left with the bill!

I agree, take it to the dealership since the powertrain is still under warranty. Keep us updated.

Is there any way to check the fluid level of the tranny or even the diff? Is there like a dipstick or something?

^The only way to check trans fluid is to get under the car.

So I went to the dealer and they said that everything seems fine but they believe I have the wrong weight fluid in the tranny. According to my service records, the dealer in TN who did my 30k service used 80w-90 when it should have been 75w-85. I contacted the dealer that did the service and they said they will cover the cost to have the fluid replaced, which is great and will save me some $$$. Think this could be the problem? I know the heavier weight is probably what's causing the issues when it's cold, but what about the grinding from 6th down to 5th? It does that even when warm.

Get the trans flushed first, then see what happen from there. Good luck.

I had the EXACT same problem you are having now on my 2007. it was the transmission assembly. got mine replaced under warranty. just drive your car to the dealer and do a night drop so that the tech can drive it in the morning when it's cold. you will get a new trans under warranty.

be ready to go threw about 2 more within the next year seems that after i got my transmission replaced that came with the car from the factory. it was never right. shifting was always a little notchy even witha new clutch & flywheel assembly. tried some of the best gear oil that made even the notchiest dirtiest transmissions on Z32 Skyline's work didn't do a damn thing for my Z33 trans.

even Seb's Z33 was a Lemon. I think the whole 2007+ batch of Z33's was a bunch of half *** put together cars. everyone that i know with an 07/08 Z33 has had problems with them and to this day is still having problems. most of them got a new car which is what I am doing next week.
