Are all you guys recommending the gen3 intake actually running it yourself?
I'm surprised to see so many recommending it as most of what I have read said its not worth it. From what I've read some people actually experienced losses with this intake as the air has to travel longer etc. etc.
Anyone got some real proof if it's worth it or not?

And you can feel free to search my user name for my thread with dyno results showing real gains. 8 peak rwhp gains and negligible losses under the curve from Injens ON A DYNO (they would make more of a positive difference than that in real world applications).

Um look at my post first post in this thread then pay attention to my sig.

I'm no scientist but I don't think aluminum holds heat very much. This is why I can cook a pizza on some aluminum foil and immediately grab it and pick the foil out of the oven.. try that with a baking sheet lol.
I'll be sure to grab a pipe after a long trip and see for myself though.

Yes A/FR was pretty bad, going to get a custom soon, they told me the believe with a good tune they can hit 283whp min with tune on current setup. Pretty good considering I'm running complete stock exhaust. This number was from a pull in 4th, we did a pull in 5th (car got up to 160mph ) but not as much power.

You need to do a 5th gear pull.. that's the 1:1 gear, otherwise your dyno is worthless for comparisons here. But it should mainly just be used by you to compare upgrades to see the power they made.
I would definitely ditch the Cobb, especially since they say all over the place to not to use their maps with intakes. :shame:
Lastly if those AFR's are taken from a sniffer then I wouldn't really pay any attention to them.. especially since you have cats.

Where is the rule on what gear to be it, on the dyno to be 1:1! Possible a link? In the last week I've been to two different shops. One said fourth, other said third, none said fifth.

Here's what I know about it.
On the Z's if you look at the transmission gearing, 5th is the 1:1 with the engine.. so that's where that comes from. Now I think it depends on the dyno which gears read lower or higher, since different dynos work in different ways.
Of course the main thing that matters is that you just always do it the same way for your own records.. but the most common way to dyno Z's and G's is definitely in 5th because that's the 1:1 gear, so that's what you should do if you're trying to dyno race on a forum lol.

Cool...I'm all about racing online, that's why I was alittle sad at my weak numbers...ahahahaha
Next time I'll be more in charge of my dyno pulls instead of the shop doing what they normally do.
From my dyno on a dynojet I was 15whp behind a 370z whose previous dyno on that dynopack was 315whp on the dynojet. So that's the only reason I had hopes of that math panning out in my favor aswell. Then again so many variables, and lack of good dyno operators here on island.
Now I know thanks!

Well you're correct! He (Justin at RPM) didn't do a print out of all three runs, but we did pulls in 4th, then 5th, then 4th again. I'll see if I can get the print out or I'm just going to get it tuned and use those gains.

Alright so dyno'd the other day.....current mods: Stillen Gen 3 intakes, Unorthadox Lite weight pulley's, ACT lite weight flywheel and heavy duty clutch, COBB AP stage 1 map. Base line Dyno on Blue350zed's stock was 254 on this dyno.....now I know it's not my car but the best baseline I can go off of (same DYNO, same location, he drives and 07 and I an 08).
