Oh it does?....It seemed to be pretty good. I Wonder why it loses power isn't it the same size as the xyz pipe?

the nismo has a 2.5 inlet? I know xyz has a 2.5 and stock is 2.0

but other than the xyz our stock Y is really good....to better improve on the OEM design megan racing has an "hr" y pipe with 2.5 inlets and 3 inch dump. Im pretty curious about it but already have an xyz. Its only 150$ and has the same design as OEM HR. It seems to me the oem HR y provides that kick and snappy acceleration...with the xyz my Z seems to have lost some kick but im sure it just shifted the power band up

No not gismo I have stillen y pipe. Inlet on it is 2.5 and out to 3 inch. I actually read in a post by motordyne that the closer the collector to the engine the greater the throttle response. Based on that theory I would think the xyz would give greater response. I was wondering also why didn't they make something similar to the hr design. Their y pipe seem much more like the de design.

"Exhaust gases can be merged just about anywhere, but in all of the testing performed on the Z, it was found that the further back from the engine the gases were merged, sound quality, throttle response and power degraded. If it was merged as far back as the rear axle, throttle response was significantly compromised. "

That's a good thread, interestingly enough there's a couple people in that thread that reported the same loss of low end punch I'm experiencing... One guy actually takes it off and goes back to OEM. IDK hopefully my tune will change things

Interesting. I'm guessing most of the gains came in the midrange?

I already have the uprev tuner suite so tuning shouldnt be an issue.

I'll probably do a before & after on the 1/4 to gauge the effectiveness of this mod.

Here is the dyno sheet. Mustang dyno and yes mostly mid range. Most gains I picked was up from the retune. Last tuner didn't do a good Job.

I finally got my part. As the others mentioned it looks like a very good port job.

I am going to put it on when I install my headers soon. I wont be able to dyno the part separately. I am hoping to pick up a lot of power under the curve with the two parts.

I went with Stillen b/c I want to be able to run a cat just in case anything happens (I originally wanted to go with LTH's but I like being able to go under the car & change the cats in 2 hrs). From what I researched headers (PPE, Stillen, Z1) dont add much peak power but make very good under the curve power on the 35HR.

Nice also if you went with z1 u would have to buy de test pipes since they only make one flange! No matter what people say about headers I def love mine so more power to you! Have fun on that many hour install!

Are you also going to polish/port the lower runner to the heads too? Since you have the upper manifold off it could only help.

You do not have to send z1 a core. They will send u a ported 1 and you return the one you take off your car.

I didnt see the ported lower runners advertised on their site. I would rather buy the ported lower runners outright so I can avoid downtime with my car. Is this something you have to call and ask for?
