Hoping some hr track guys will chime in. Pulling my ac system next week and want to confirm belt length and new routing needed to maintain optimal tension. Only found one post stating 50.75inch belt routed directly from 8 pulley to 4 crank (skip pulley 5 and compressor 6)
Much appreciated.
You may have some real problems with that. The most obvious is the amount of contact between the belt and the crank pulley - it will be far less with the new routing, and there may be some slipping because of that. The second issue is that the tensioned will also have a much shorter run of bely to act on, and it may not work properly.
Can't help you with the length. Get a piece of string and measure it.
DE > HR when it comes to AC delete. My DE self deleted its AC belt a few times....in the summer.
OP the belt routing you are looking into won't work. Dcains called it. The tensioner will just hit full extension and the belt will be limp. Idler 6 is crucial for the tensioner to work.
Your best bet may bey to fab a dummy pulley where the AC used to go.
