Default ECU Swap

I currently have a 2007 350Z 6mt. I have to swap out my ECU because it went bad. I just picked up a ECU from a 2008 350Z 6mt to replace it.
What do I need to do next?

How do you know your ECM is defective? Did the ECM you purchased come from a manual tranny equipped car?

It needs to be either flashed with Uprev to bypass NATS or reprogrammed by the dealership. You're in Kapolei? I'll be there next week I can do it for you if you want. Search Uprev on craigslist I have an ad up

Wow, that's an amazing coincidence!

That other guy who kept griping about the "snarky" answers despite admonition should see this. THIS is what it's all about. Z-brethren helping Z brethren. Shee, I tried to help a guy on FB group the other day and he thought I was being snarky when I gave him the answer (which he didn't agree with cuz it was based in reality). Nope, sticking around here for real help.

All,

Dragging this discussion on - new member here. Just picked up 2007 Base 350z at auction. 140K miles. Body and interior are good. Engine and electronics are rough. Alternator dead. Battery dead. Misfires on start and then idles high. Shifts poorly. All kinds of codes. Sent ECU off to have "refurbished" and they came back with 2 codes that could not be reset and they claim are software related - P0603 (keep alive issue) and P0507 (idle speed control).

My guess is the CPU was poorly flashed or some electrical surge caused the ECU to wig out. I am considering buying a full body control unit, keys, ecu and door/storage bin lock off ebay and swapping them all out to avoid having to spend the $300 to reprogram an ecu that may not be fixable.

My question is do I also need to swap the gauge cluster? Will the new ECU/BCM/ignition switch work with my current gauge cluster or will I need to reprogram the computer anyway to work with my current gauge cluster? I believe the mileage and VIN are in the gauge cluster. Has anyone successfully swapped out the gauge cluster only?

Any love on this would really be appreciated!
