Default need a shop to lower my ride

anyone know of any shops close to fullerton, like cerritos or OC area that offer real good prices to lower. Purchasing some vogtland springs... like under a 100.

Do it yourself or find another 350Z owner in your area that can help you with it. I know with all the people in CA that someone can help you out.

thx for the responses, found a shop and had them installed... the "paranoid" thing is when i drive, the front left side makes this "dunk dunk" noise. I called the guy back and he said, it's a pretty common thing. He said the springs need to settle into the grooves.. he also said that give it a couple of days and if it still makes that noise, then bring it back to the shop. anyone know what i'm talking about?

DAMN'T! DAMN'T! the sounds like a deep creaking noise, but shorter of a length. i'll drive it around for a couple more days. i was thinking maybe the springs weren't fit correctly into the grooves or something. it only comes from the left hand front side... very annoying at 5-45 mph but on highways i can't seem to hear it. all i know is, that sound wasn't there before the install.

'Dunk Dunk' noises? Did you go back to the shop to have them check it out? As for an alignment, I recommend West End Alignment in Gardena.

Bertg, literally it sounds like "DD-unk DD-unk" on local streets, more noticeable at low speeds.. some other people have mentioned that its probably because the springs haven't fit completely into the groove yet, all speculations and theories of course.... unfortuanately i've got work during odd hours so, i'm giving it till this saturday for it to "settle in" the paranoia has "settled" in tho

perhaps they didn't tighten down the 17mm upper strut (perch) bolt enough, and there is not enough preload on the springs.

heres a little info on the springs i've installed on the Z. they are vogtland,

>>>maybe the springs weren't placed properly..... not sitting on the tab properly???

i think thats exactly what the it is. there's a groove where the bottom of the spring presses up against, and i'm thinking it's not completely touching, so everytime it bounces the spring hits the groove but not completely resting up against it.

>>>perhaps they didn't tighten down the 17mm upper strut (perch) bolt enough, and there is not enough preload on the springs

might be it... i mean it (sound) comes only from the front left side...i'll take it back on saturday, if it persists....

damn't, protacav, i should've just taken it to you.. that way i get to meet another person on the forum in person... and check out your Z...

another bad decision making mistake in the ilfe of CH@MP

The spring will not make noise if it is not sit in the pocket ( it can just not the noise you are describing), the reason is that if the there is full load on the spring it can't move. It is most likely the upper strut nut that holds the shock shaft to the upper spring perch. If this is not seated correctly (and sometimes certain shafts are "keyed" have flats machined into them) the shaft can move up and down through the upper spring seat. It only has to move 1/16" to make a noticeable noise. In addition there may also be a missing washer / spacer.

Have the shop inspect the entire asembly completely, this will require them to remove the strut from the car.

If the problem persist, e-mail me at:

PSR Performance,

I am thinking of lowering my car. What do you charge with alignment?
