Default Considering A 350Z

Hi there,

I have a Honda S2000 and am considering getting a 350Z. I was trying to do some quick calculations on the cost to own vs my S2000.

Could someone give me an estimate on how many miles I could expect to get out of a set of OEM tires w/ a mix of city and highway driving. And what does a set of OEM tires cost?

Cheers!

Hi,

Its funny that you asked. I almost bought the S2000 several times.

The S2000 rear tires just don't last too long. For the Z, its really good. I will say about 25k mile if you drive it normal and cost about 500-600 for tires.

Chris,

I moved from an S2k to a 350Z...both cars are similar in cost depending on the # of miles you drive/yr. The Z does chew through front tires quickly...but the insurance for my S2k cost far more than that for my Z. Aside from those two variables, the cars are very similar in terms of cost to own. Both have pretty short lived clutches IMO, and both have somewhat expensive maintenance if you compare it to something like an Accord. Of course...you get what you pay for.

I also had a s2k and sold it for a 350z. Stock to stock....to be honest, I think s2k is a little better made, however If you own the z for a while, you won't miss s2k at all. It's bigger with more torque that comforts you so much more. Also I personally think 350z's are faster than s2k if both have basic boltons due to 350z's engines reacting better on bolt ons than s2k.
I had my z for 3months now and I personally think 350z cost same as s2k to own.
Well, either way both cars are very similar cars.
If you need just a little more room and power than s2k without needing FI cars like, STI's or EVOs....this is the car for you man.
Plus....this is the biggest pro for the z....that is....you can put 19's or 20's wheels on with madddddddd deep dish wheels.
Hope this helps bro!
John
