Default 275/35 not 30, right??

Just wanted to check, for19x8.5 and 19x9.5 (20mm offsets for both), the appropriate tire size would be

245/35/19 and
275/35/19

Right?

255/35 front is better for vdc (when using a 275/35)

275/35 is correct for the rear

The car is an auto, so no VDC. Will the ABS or TCS be affected? Seems like a lot of people are going with the 245 setup over the 255, especially with 8.5" rims.

Well, if you're running 275/30 and 245/35, your front is slightly taller than the back.

245/35/19 = 25.75 inches tall
275/30/19 = 25.49 inches tall
275/35/19 = 25.75 inches tall

I've had both 275/30R19 and 275/35R19 with no noticable difference in 5mm of additional sidewall.

x35 will give a bit more "meat" on the tire.

check this site out http://gs.tolan-hoechst.com/tirecalc.htm

just plug in the factory tire specs and your aftermarket tire specs.
You want to be as close to factory as possible and I believe that is 245/35 and 275/35

INCORRECT.... 245/35/19, and 275/35/19
CORRECT..... 255/35/19, and 275/35/19

This is the only right way to do it. He didnt ask what range of sizes will work. There is one answer more correct than others, and this is the answer is above.

Jet, you are INCORRECT!
The best matches depend on what size the factory tires are. Isn't the idea to be as close as possible the factory tire circumfrence, wich will equal the same revs per mile. Based on my research I found these combos to be the best:

Factory Tires---------------------------------New 19's

225/50-17 ----------------------------------245/35-19
235/50-17 ----------------------------------265/35-19

225/45-18 ----------------------------------255/35-19
255/45-18 ----------------------------------295/35-19

These may not be the easiest tire combos to come up with, but THIS is the right way to do it! As I mentioned previously, check the tire calculator site.

Thanks everyone. All very good info. There is certainly more than one combo that will work with the car. My preference is to go 245/35 and 275/35 and it sounds as though I won't have any issues.
