Angry Nismo Rims

I've got nismo rims to replace the stock 18"s. My car is an 04 350z Performance. The tire pressure sensors have never worked since having the nismo rims on there. The dealership is telling me its because the rims are lower profile and that it's blocking the signal from the car receiving it at all. I'm kinda pissed... its not a huge deal but I was under the impression that the nismo rims would work with my tps. So my car just shows 2 dashes instead of a readout for tire pressures. Does anybody else with nismo rims have this problem or a fix?

I'm not familiar with that term. What are "lmgt4's" ?

On more issue I have with the dealership right now is the very common tire roar. They recognize it as an issue with my car after hearing it for themselves yet since there isn't an official tsb from nissan that includes anything but 03 model... it might be a problem. I'll find out later today when i go find out what's going to happen for sure with my car. Today will be 6 days in the shop so I think that should be sufficient time with them already.

The TSB is for 03 and 04 Z's. I had my tires aligned on the same TSB (04 Track model).

LMGT4 is the short name/official name fo rthe Nismo Rims.

Thanks for the replies.. I got off the phone with another dealership in town and they confirmed ... that the sensors must be improperly installed because they should be working with the rims. Now I got the info to set the dealership that my car is at now to set them straight. Gotta love the forums.

Are they new sensors or are they from your previous set of wheels? The TPS system is only designed to read a certain frequency, so the dealership will have to use the Consult-II to reprogram it to match the sensors on wheels.

Oh, and call the other dealership back and tell them they're a bunch of idiots...

Well I will be picking up my car later today around 6pm. The dealership that my car is at now *has been for 6 days* is going to replace my front tires. *They had to call Nissan to approve*. Also the service rep basically admitted to giving me incorrect info about the reason why my tire pressure sensors were not working. He's been a real nice guy the whole time actually so I have been equally nice in return. So for whatever reason that the sensors weren't registering with the cars computer... they will now be fixed and working when i pick up my car. It's funny.. I waited a whole year to get my warranty fixes in. If i had waited 50 more miles *11,950* or 10 more days.. I'd be SOL. I gave them six things on my checklist to fix and from what he said on the phone.. i got my way with every one of them. Oh and to answer "John" these sensors are the very same sensors that the car came with .. only the rims were swapped from the nismo set. Another annoyance was that the rear view mirror would rattle like crazy.. esp when the temp was 60ish or less. So they are going to replace that too. Oh well, i'm a happy camper from what i hear... All that's left is picking the car up and seeing that the follow through is there.
