The re040 lasted 7000 miles. The fronts were still good, but the rears were dead.
Swapped to the new Falken Azenis RT-615 (235/40R18 and 255/40R18) on stock Track rims.
8000 miles later the rears have 2mm thread left, the front will go another 3000 miles I think (hope).
Multiple track days and spirited driving with VDC OFF…

I have 75K on my 3 year old Z. After 2 rounds with the stock tires I got the Yokohama ES100 tires and they were great. No feathering, less noise, and I ran them completely bald about 30K miles.
I saw good reviews for the Avon Tech 550 and since they were all season and cheaper I just got a set and have had them on my Z for a week. They are smooth riding and very quiet, but the handliing is really bad. They are the worst handling tires I have ever owned. They have really soft sidewalls and the steering response is really slow. I'm scared to drive hard on these tires. I'm considering sending them back and getting the Yokohamas again.

Great tire... very stiff sidewalls. It was designed for track/drift.
FEATURES BENEFITS
High rigidity shoulder block. Delivers maximum dry grip and cornering power.
Silicarbon Matrix is a specially-formulated compound of silica and carbon black. Enhances wet and dry traction and performance.
Directional tread pattern and two wide, straight tread channels with long, oblique grooves. Pump water out from under the footprint for excellant grip in wet conditions.
Performance-inspired tread and sidewall design. Makes good-looking cars look even better.
Jointless Band Technology with a spiral-wound cap ply. Maintains the tire's structure integrity and enables smooth performance at highway speeds.
Max Flange Shield. Protects rims from accidental contact with curbs.
5-Pitch Technology minimizes subjective and pass-by noise. Enhances driving comfort.
Cheers, Ted

What sealed me on these tires was the low noise level. The longevity is slightly above average when compared to other performance tires on the market, but they're goddang cheap!
I am very surprised that so little of us in this forums has put on these tires. Yes, Dunlop tires used to not be that great, but this Direzza tire was a tire concocted after Goodyear took over Dunlop, and so this tire was created with a lot of R&D for the performance car market. Give them a try before the rest of the world finds out about them and the price starts rocketing!
