Which tire size do you prefer, 17" or 18" ?

Default Which tire size do you prefer, 17" or 18" ?

Also is their a big difference in handling and ride quality between the two sizes?

I went from 18" stock to 19" Axis Hiros. I haven't noticed any difference in ride quality. I have, however, noticed an increase in handling due to the wider tires I now run. I will say this....going into my friend's base Z with 17s, I can notice an increase in ride quality, but I think the performance suffers b/c of it.

I stuck with 17"s but wider tires. The handling feels better, however as much as I love my new wheels if I'd do it again I'd go 18" simply because for whatever reason the new wheels/tires look smaller than the stocker 17"s...

Do you have a picture with your wide 17s? I have been on the fence on this for a while and have been unable to decide. I actually like the ride and look of the stock 17 tire profile/rim diameter and was thinking about going with some wide SSR or Volk wheels but it seems like everyone else is going with at least 18s so that seems like the easy way to go.

I would go with at least 18s. IMO...17s just look too small for the Z. I think 18s to 19s are perfect.....look wise.

I changed my 17s for wider 18s and felt a huge improvement in handling. Ride quality isn't that much different.

Beautyful...aren't they precious?

the rims are 17 by 9 and the tires are 255/45/17 rear and 245/45/17 front.

I still run 17" on the track. Can't beat the handling and understeer balance.
19" spin up really slow. So, I like 18" on the street. But, what do I know...

I would have loved to get 17's.. but i went with 18's so i could run 14.1" front stop tech's.... I want to get some spare wheels for the rear in 17"

17's are awesome for track... very light, better cornering especially when wide, just because you have 17's doesnt mean you need to run a tall sidewall... you can run something like 245/40/17 / 275/40/17 and they look hot! thats what our race cars run...

It's nice to see some cat lovers in a seems to be more and more cat unfriendly world...

One main reason I kept 17"s is because I'm at the track at least once a week and they do handle better (even though I put on 15" slicks in the rear on those days days)

yes, almost every week at Irwindale and when ever there are privates at Cali Speedway...taking out my baby for her first 1/4 mile event this friday since the twins were installed...

0 camber in the rear will have full contact patch on the ground...

with the Z's negitive camber set up it is best for the track / road course...

but for drag racing you are only getting 70% of the rubber on the ground...

0 camber will get all of that rubber on the ground, your launches are going to be faster, you arent going to spin the wheels as easy either...

for someone who mainly drag races' it is a good thing.

how hard is that to set up and is this something I can do at the track and then change back for everyday driving?
