Thanks for the shots Russ...(via Renee). You are right about the clearcoat on the lip...but you can pay to have it done. In my opinion I wouldn't...even if it were free. Reason being, there isn't that much maintainance in keeping up on the polish on just the rim. Additionally, if you so much as "touch" a curb you are going to be sorry. Not that you'd be happy if it weren't clearcoated...but the damage control is easier...you can sand and even repolish small blemishes to make them inconspicuous, but if clearcoated it takes much more work/$'s. If you let it go...you will eventually see cracks in the clearcoat and it will eventually flake back looking like hell. Additionally...even if the wheel never sees contact with a curb, the clearcoat has a tendency to yellow after about 4 or 5 years which is visible over a high polished aluminum. In my opinion...regardless of cost....NON clearcoated is the way to go on the rim.
