Default Oversteer Problem

Hi Everyone,

I just swithced over the rear to 245/45 18 Toyo T1-R's and the fronts are still the factory RE040. the rear oversteers a lot now and even kicks in the VDC,and it tracks the road very bad now. Is this because of the two different brands or is that how the T1-Rs are?

Thanks in advance.

IMO it's the T1-R. I have the same tires and handling (oversteer )
is much worse than my stock tires. Can't wait till these wear out so I can get new ones.

i am surprise they SUCK so much. I've heard so many good things about them and here they are HORRIBLE tires. the old t1-s were much better then, and its sad to say that the RE040 are better who would have thought that

If you have too much oversteer, can't you just install a stiffer front sway bar? Someone else with some more experience may be able to confirm this...

If your driving technique is the same, its the rear tires.

upgrade your suspension to help with the upgraded tires...sway bars, coilovers...etc

Sorry about the tires. Suspension modifications aren't going to make the tires better, they’re just going to “balance” the car. Lets say that the tires cost $300, and you're on a tight budget. Grin and bare for 15,000 miles, then toss the Toyo’s in the trash.

the only way to get any kind of adjustment is by changing out suspension components. tires are not going to solve any of your oversteer problems thats for sure. no matter how high grade of tire you get you are still limited by the stock suspension. imo, i would rather spend my money on suspension than any other modification as far as the z goes....seems like that is the weakest link of the car.

coilovers, sway bars and camber components would be the best option but there are other alternatives that are cheaper if your on a budget. i have all of the aforementioned upgrades and i am still on stock tires....but my car handles great. i can adjust height, ride stiffness, understeer and oversteer as necessary and have absolutely no tire problems such as feathering or uneven wear.

good luck with your situation
