Default Broke a Stud....Performance Nissan to the Rescue

I use an electronic torque wrench when changing my tires at the track and usually always hand tighten the lug nuts first but was in a hurry last friday so when I was at the track last night one of the lug nuts got stuck and once I got it off the Wheel Stud was basically done with.

I pm'ed Jason at Performance Nissan last night to find out how hard it is to replace the Stud and if they have the part in stock, sure enough they did and I was able to go down there and get it fixed in about an hour.

Thank you Jason, you guys rock!!!

PS> Did a new best at LACR with a 12.404 that is at 2700 feet elevation not counting air density and such knowing that there is no slower track in souther cali...

YuP! I went there every single time my studs snapped. I recently went with the extended versions 10 mm over from Superior Nissan. Just FYI, the parts guy at Superior was a jerk. Performance has the best parts department around

No need to state the obvious there Rick. Remember kids always hand tighten lugs and if you are lazy you can then use an impact wrench once they are all threaded on by hand but I would still go with the ole socket wrench and then torque wrench.

Lol, have to give them a plug whenever warranted so people don't confuse my negative comment on Superior Yup, torque wrench for me only. Impact wrenches? OUCH

I usually hand tigthen, then use a cordless impact wrench (goes to about 75 ft/lbs) and the torque it with a good ole fashioned torque wrench to 80. except for that time last week...lesson learned

do they make stronger studs for the Z since I am not the strongest guy in the world but I snapped that thing off like butter...and since I have to change tires at least twice a week it would make sense to have stronger studs, don't you think?

I'm sure ARP has some that you could get to work.

I snapped two studs as well.
Performance Nissan to the rescue with sending a batch of em through the mail in no time.

Is it me or does it seem as if our stock bolts are weak and strip easily?

Anyhow, I ordered extra to have em around just in case.

no wonder they had them in stock LOL

I found ARP Studs at Jegs but I don't know the needed dimensions, any one know which ARP Product ID we would need to upgrade those bad boys?

Not sure if ARP has an application available...

on our race cars we had to modify the hubs for their studs to work!

Im going to be replacing my wheel hubs soon and will be putting in the 60mm NISMO Hub Bolts...

They are suposed to be stronger then the OE...

For the 350Z we need the 14.1mm knurl diameter...
