The only way I would have done something like that is if they would have gotten a sample of the same material and done a weld and tested it for strength as well as perfoming some non-destructive testing on the welds afterwards, xrays at a minimum to make sure of the integrity of the weld and there are no voids or cracks in the welds.
Also did they keep the heat affected area to a minimum while welding and did they heat treat the welded area afterwards.
There are many things to take into account when welding and specially a load bearing part, just think of a weld letting go at 100 MPH
Not picking on you just making some points I think are valid if doing something like this.

Supra and mustangs been doing this for years. If a 1000hp supra uses stock widen wheels, I don't think I will have a problem. I didn't sign any waivers. I just sent them the wheels. I am using H&R spacers. They are hub centric and come with longer studs. The cost of widening the wheels is $175 per wheel.

i still stick by my comment that the huge stagger you are running with adversely affect handling, a 315 even more so.
what do you do with your car that needs a 315 rear? FI + drag?

i'm having this done this winter with a extra set of rears I just picked up. On my G I have H&R 25mm spacers & was going to go to 10 or maybe 10.5in like you. Im going to measure how much space I actually have behind my wheel.
I was going with 315's myself. Goodyear 315/35 r17. (ATI procharger here)
Nicely done mod.
good example of a "pioneer" mod(for 350z's that is) for others to learn by.
