Default Explain Volk "high, med, low pad" terminology please...

I have been searching all over the place for this info and am tired of registering for new forum after new forum, so could someone take a minute and give me a clean cut definition of what these mean? Which of the following gives it more of a concave look? What clears brakes better? Just any info that you can give or pictures that show the difference between the different "pads."

Thanks, that answers about 90% of my questions, good link.

So will the High Pad or the Low Pad give you a more concave look?

(Concave look as in...TE37 bowed spoke look, not deep dish w/ massive lip)

I don't know if the type of pad changes the concave look on the TE's but usually a lower offset will yield a more concave look.

I would call someone knoledgable like Mackin Industries: 562.946.6820

Ok I just got off the phone with Mackin and they told me what I needed to know.

Basically highpad is just made so the wheel can clear bigger brakes, where low pad will give a deeper lip because the spokes don't go out as far, but brake clearance is more of an issue.

TE37 18X9.5 +22 - Super high pad designed to clear Z/G with front brembo.

TE37 18X9.5 +12 - High pad designed to clear regular Z/G front brakes only.

TE37 18X10.5 +22 - Low pad, designed to be rear wheels only.

Of course all three sizes can be used for the rear but I'm just demonstrating the pad question.

So, i'm just trying to verify my first thought again. For rear wheels I want to run a 9.5 width, but want the most curved spoke look. I have been under the impression a +12 wheel's lip is out further from the hub, so more curvature in the spokes (since TE37's don't really have much of a lip). Correct?

9.5 +22 least lip

9.5 +12 more lip

10.5 +22 little bit more lip
