Default wheel weights

Hi All,

I found this site which lists a bunch of stock and aftermarket wheel weights and other specs. The stock 03-05 18" 350Z wheels weigh like 27 lbs, according to this
Here's the site... http://www.wheelspecs.com/specs/

Thanks for the informative post.

Maybe 1 in 10 350Z owners care about weight. The other 9 go gaga over a 4 inch lip. Go figure.

This is why I selected Enkei RPF1's, 18x 8.5s /9.5's are just over 18 lbs. each, This is a signicant difference. It makes a real world difference in how the car drives.

I agree. I'm running 18 x 8.5/9.5 Volk TE37 and they weigh in at 17 lbs for the front. So much quicker off the line, compared to my old 19's.

Light weight wheels tend to bend easier dont they?

Enkei is terrible about giving their weights. I have 18" G'Spec GTV's and have no idea how heavy they are. One place said 24lbs but I can't confirm that.

I think if you could save 10 lbs or even 8 lbs per wheel it would make a noticeable diff in everything...mpg, accel, susp wear, etc. The stock 17s are pretty heavy too. I wonder if tire weights vary much?? The Nismo wheels only weigh like 18 lbs...that's a good thing...would like to pick some of those up eventually...

Go for BBS 17s or go for SSR 17s...
weigh like 15 lbs each...
cant go much lighter in terms of cost > performance

No. Strength is related to the construction process, not weight. It is possible to make a strong lightweight wheel, and that wheel will cost you $500 plus.

My 19X9.5 LE37 weighs 19lbs. And my 19X10.5" out back comes in at 19.8lbs. VERY light for how wide these are. BTW-I def care about weight over lip as every mod I do is performance minded....

What do the Stock 17's Weigh? Is there a measurable difference in mpg and accel?

The difference is not so much related to mpg, but acceleration. Simply it takes more power to turn a 20-pound wheel that a 18-pound wheel. How much more power? Don't know.

the Le37 i think is one of the best when it comes to looks and weight! U get the best of both! I chose the SF Challenge rims over the le37s cause they look so damn sexy! The way i look at it, is that i take out the spare on the trunk and other heavy things! I also mod up more to make up for that weight added!

Yes, but....it's the weight of the rotating mass that matters more than the weight of the car, at least proportionate weight difference. It takes more power to spin a 5 pound heavier wheel/tire combination that removing 5 pounds of groceries in the trunk. It's something like a 6:1 ratio for unsprung weight, but for wheels, it might be more.

Does anyone know what the 18s from the G35 weigh, and if they are an easy swap on an '05 touring? If they weigh much less than the 27.5lb touring wheels then I think I'll try to swap them out! I can't quite stand driving the Z with such heavy wheels...

What are the differences you noticed? MPG? Accel? Handling or steering feel? What about tracking? Seems like my 18s are a little tough to track (not racetrack) if there are any grooves in the pavement. Thanks for the info!!
