Default staggered or same size tires all around on base 350z

since i have no VDC i want to know what are the pros and cons of have a staggered setup vs a same size tires all around. Which one will benifit me on turns and handling characteristics. Which one is better in handling overall such as high speeds or i the rain and as well as saftey.

Thanks, I've tried doing serachs but couldnt get anything really except people flamming each other.

Default i have a n 04 base

Ihave recently purchased 4 new oem rims from someone who upgraded to aftermarket wheels.
i am going to put all 4 rears, 2 from my car and 2 from the other z's rear. (235/50/17 with 8" rims) on my car. To me it's just silly that nissan staggered these tires. I am doing it only because i am trying to extend the life of these tires.

Better handling over all will be OEM setup. "Over all" and "better handling" being easy to drive and predictable on dry, wet, rain, snow, fast, slow, off throttle, on throttle, bla bla...

Same width all around will have less understeer, might make things "interresting" on a high speed bend. Wider tires are usually more susceptible to aquaplaning, but this is largely dependent on the actuall thread and tire wear.

In the end, it's personnal tastes.

I'm staggered 235/40R18 and 255/40R18 on mine.

If you want more life out of your tires, quieter running, smoother ride or better rain performance, don't use RE040s.

As far as keeping all four the same, although not common, it can be done without any adverse affects. One of the guys on here is running 275/40R17 all the way around if I remember correctly and liked that setup quite a bit.
I am currently hight staggered but my width is equal all the way around, 275/35R18F~275/40R18, so I don't get any rotating benefit but do get great front end traction.

I think in the case of the base it's up to the owner.

some magazine got a z to pull 1.0 g on a skidpad by putting 275/40/18 tires at all four corners, hotchkis swaybars, and a stronger differential. all of this on stock suspension. i cant believe this info hasnt flooded the z community, but the proof is in the pudding. http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/pr...50z/index.html

Yes, I finally read the whole article. My bad, apologies to you BlkG35FujiCoupe.

They do use the same tire size all around. Adding the bars, using different offset and the rear diff make a good deal of difference too. I'm not sure what would have been the results with the tire only mods.
