Default Sold wheels for 2006, Having TPS issues

BEFORE ANYONE SAYS It....I did do a search. I still need help.

So I sold my 2006 stock 350z wheels, and rather than risking the guys at the tire shop messing the rims up, I sent them to the buyer. We agreed theat he would have them removed, and sent back to me. He has a 04 with no TPS, so he didnt need them anyway. He sent this email to me today:

Ok joseph, I have a bit of bad news! I went to Nissan to remove the TPS and they told me that it was totally agaisnt the law with penalties including a large fine and 2 years in prison *No Joke. I then went to Discount Tire to see if they could do and they too also explained to me that they could not do it and even if they did it would cost 135 a tire to remove the TPS. I then went to a local shop, they kinda told me the same story but they said they would do it under the table and charge me 115 a tire to remove them. I feel horrible because the people at Nissan told me that the original car these wheels came off (your Z) is going to have problems. I think, but dont quote me on this, but I think you can buy 4 TPS 100 bucks a piece, but this is still absurd. Let me know what you want to do, I am even willing to pay half if you would like----I am also going to keep shopping around to see if anyone will do it cheaper. Sorry Joseph, but let me know and I will do all that it takes to get these sensors sent to you!

The people he has been talking to have been giving him a bunch of crap. My question is

1) Will I have problems with my car if I dont put them back in?

2) How much should it cost to take these things out?

3) How much will it take to get them recalibrated in my new wheels (Axis Matrix)

I DID DO A SEARCH, and saw alot of other years, but not 2006. Has anyone put these into the AXIS MATRIX?

LOL, what a rip man. I think this guy is feeding you a bunch of **** and keeping your sensors for himself. I had mine removed before I shipped them to the buyer for $45 total at Tire Kingdom, that was dismount and remount with new valve stems. They are so easy to remove, you unscrew the valve stem then remove the sensor which is attached to it, done. Not having them on your car will not affect anything except the annoying beep and alert on your instrument panel saying that you have no TPS. Your local dealer should recalibrate them for free, mine did. Installing them on your rims should also not be a problem, I am currently in the process of making bands that go inside of the rim to keep these sensors in place for those who have aftermarket wheels but wish to keep their TPS. If you really don't care about your TPS just go to the dealer and instruct them to remove the warning lights and they will shut it off. Most shops have no clue where they are located and how to remove them, ignore all the BS about it being illegal, if it was then they could not remove the tire from the rim and how are you suppose to change your tire when its worn???? Its a liability for them b/c if they where to break it the they have to pay the price so they give you the BS jack up the price just in case they mess something up. Jeez, hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. I dont think the guy that I sold my wheels to, is full of ****, but the people he is asking are. He might not be the most car savey(sp?) guy, but it should matter. I hate people that try to take advantage of others who dont know any better.

No prob. Just let him know that if he wanted to he could just bring it to a shop, have the tires removed and he could just unscrew the sensors him self and have new valve stems put in its place. GL

I would see if he could do it himself. Also, could you please post some pics of your wheels? I am hoping to get Axis Matrix soon as well. Love to see what they look like on another Z.

Just go to a cheap tire place and remove the tires. Then take the sensors off yourself. Have them put the tire back one with a new valve stem.

I got some '06 wheels from a friend who went aftermarket.

Discount simply broke the tire sidewalls and removed the TPSs/stems from his stock wheels and installed standard stems on the OEM wheels. They transferred the TPSs to the new wheels when they installed the tires.

Well the guy lives in Lubbock....not the biggest town in Texas, so it might not be easy for him to get things done. He just emailed me and said a friend of his works at Nissan, and will take them off for him. I should have just gotten this done before I shipped them. Thanks for the info.

I have an 06 GT roadster and had my local shop remove the stems from the OEM wheels and install on my new TSW Mondello wheels free (with purchase of $3,600 worth of tires/wheels of course).

Not sure why you're given the line of ship you describe. It's no more complicated than emptying an ash tray. If it was on eBay, be sure to slam the dude.

TPS was removed from my stock 06s onto my new wheels. Discount tires did it for me since i bought rims and tires from them. i told them to leave it on my stocks. to remove the tps, they dont need to remove the entire tire, just press it down and take it off. this is a bunch of bull. everything that was told to him is total bs.

I had my tps sensors removed and put on my new rims 6 months back. Cost me $45. Advise him to take them to a mom and pop tire shop.

What exactly are the sensors? I was under the impression it was a band that went around the rim with a sensor attached to it, but it sounds as if they are part of the valve stem? I wanted to put them on my RO_JA's but want to keep the valve stems that are custom fit for the rims.
