Mounting your own tires to rims
Is it impossible to mount 19" 35 series tires to wheels by using hand tools such as tire irons and pry bars?
I did a motorycyle tire once and it was a pain in the a$$, so I imagine it's near impossible to do a car tire, especially a low pro tire?

Ha, I remember when I was a kid, my Dad used to pull tires off the steel wheels of our old VW to patch holes in them. I remember it being a major PITA and what was required to do it by hand like that you would in no way want to come within 100' of decent rims. Low profile tires would be even harder.
Sometimes I wish I had a tire machine in my garage so I could do it myself b/c I hate letting some underpaid guy at a shop do it and potentially mess up my rims, but there's pretty much no other choice. Just gotta watch 'em like a hawk.

Wasn't really planning on trying to do it, was more or less just curious if it could be done. The idea wasn't about trying to save a few bucks but to save my wheels from chance of getting scratched by the tire guys.
They would probably just scratch them when they balance them anyway.

I used to change tires on a Datsun 210. Balancing? Sure. Just put the center of the wheel on something sturdy, and see which way the tire leans. Then hammer on a couple of weights. Life was so simple then.
