Running 2 Different Tires Bad/Good?
Hi All,
I spoke with a shop and they do not recommend running 2 different brands of tires? Anyone running two different brands of tires with any problems? If so, what type of problems do u run into?

it's not ideal, but people do it. It can make the car less predictable espeically if you have say two Z rated on the front and two H or V on the back...even W and Y, but less noticeable. Where you'll really notice unpredictable handling when mixing is when you do two snows and two regular performance tires..that's why it's always best two run four snows. You should always run of the same tires. It's like wearing two different shoes...it doesn't make sense and they both perform differently.
Thanks All for your input. I purchased a front set of Bridgestones (for new 19"rims) since they were dirt cheap on Tirerack and was going to go with Nitto's since I would have gotten a good deal on those. But I will move forward with buying Bridgestones for the rear set.

yeah since most people will never push their car to limit anyways it won't really matter...
Its the same with people putting the widest tire they can fit in the rear... the Z understeers stock wo lets add more grip to the rear

Im a firm believer in BALANCE----Meaning standardizing components. Two fronts with two different rears is a gamble, May be perfect or may throw u into a spin out some night. Im all for experimentation <<<<< understatement ,but tires, like pistons, or brake pads are designed to work as a team

As long as the tires on the front are the same and the tires on the rear are the same you shouldn't have any problems.
Of course if you put crap tires on the front and good tires on the back you will have poor traction in the front. As long as you have good tires on the front and rear that are matching sets you will be fine.
Drifting or autocrossing is about the only time when I can think of that you must have all 4 matching.
