Default hi, how do i find information on purchasing tires?

Im currently in the market for some new tires up front and i know absolutely nothing about wheels and tires. I have used the search function but was not able to find anything specific about tires and off sets and all that stuff.

does anyone know of a website that explains tires? i have a stock enthusiast with 17" wheels. everything is stock. is there a way to get tires that have a lower profile? this means that the side of the tires are smaller right?

what is this i hear of people stretching tires? Should i do that? there really isn't much choice in terms of tires from this local tire place i purchase from (ALLEN TIRES) they recommend toyo proxes 4's.

Thanks in advance!

Since these are your first tires, why not make life simple. Replace with the OEM size.
