Default will 275 on the front

Will 275 on the front, ruin my steering feel. Can i get away with it, my goal is maximum traction. any opinions would be great.

Are you autocrossing the car? From what I've seen here and other places, 275 and 285 are pretty common setups for people autocrossing their Zs. I'm looking for a set of tires right now to use next year for autocrossing. Probably 265 or 275 Falken RT-615s.

On the street, I'm running 255s and don't notice any problems with the front steering as compared to stock.

I am autocrossing, and i just got a tire sponsor, so the price of wide tires is not a big deal. sounds good.

Who's your tire sponsor? Are you a member of the Cart in CT?

Yep, they will fit fine as long as the wheel offset is right. On a 9.5" wheel, a 27-30mm offset will be good.

I was running the Nismo LMGT-4 wheels on my car, 18x9.5 +30 all around before. running 275-35-18 front and 275-40-18 rear. no rubbing at all, fronts were as flush as can be.

as for the steering feel, it became a little (but not too much) heavier, but the instant response of the way the car gripped was nice. I never really pushed it to it's limit back then, so i couldn't tell u how it would react on the track, but I liked the way the car handled with such a large tire in the front.

I highly recomend this setup or anything similar.

I know Jason was running his enkei NT03+M rims in a fairly wide width in the front, and i think he even had 295s on the rear....

Do you guys think an 18x9.5+22 will be ok in the front?

I just ordered this combo and wonder now if I went too aggressive with the offsets since the Nismos are +30 and the Rotas are +28.

thx

It can be done. Rick@Status ran a 275/30/19 with a 19x9.5 +22 with a 15mm spacer and -2 degree camber. No rubbing issues.

I'd rather not have to run a spacer or extreme camber...Should I change my order to +27?

I would. That will give you the best chance to run the widest tires possible without rubbbing and be able to rotate front/back if you go with same size tires all around.

Unless you are planning to track yor car I would not use that size up front. The car will be more sensitive to pulling when driving over uneven pavement. I live in Michigan and the roads are messed up with overweight trucks and poor maintenance. I use 275s all around for the track and I don't get the street (245/275) tires back on for a few days and run on the 275s. It is a bit annoying to be pulled here and there.

Huh, I run my 275s full time and have not had any problems whatsoever. It certainly does not pull or tramline and according to the people who keep track of such things, we have the worst roads in the country.

i thought tramlining had a lot to do with the tire tread design, compound stiffness, and profile thickness

It does, as well as offset and suspension settings, etc. etc. I'm curious mostly about the opinions of those who have just changed section width MOL.

Pretty good article on tirerack on the matter: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...currentpage=46
