Default Quick tire question

How dangerous is it if I run on 235/45 on all 4 tires ? I've tried searching but didn't help.

Why? also you don't say what size wheels you have, that would make a big difference, and also what model you have

Hmmm...I am currently running 225/50/17 front and 235/50/17 Rear for my winter tires. Close to what you asked, but not quite. It might not be a safety issue as much as a cosmetic issue, but the stock tires on 2004 base model are 225/50/17 front and 235/50/17 rear (someone correct me if I am wrong). The 235/45/17 tires you are proposing will be smaller in overall diameter than both of the stock tire sizes. Here is how I calculated them:

225/50/17 --> O.D. = (225 x .5 x 2 / 25.4) + 17 = 25.86" (stock front)
235/50/17 --> O.D. = (235 x .5 x 2 / 25.4) + 17 = 26.25" (stock rear)
235/45/17 --> O.D. = (235 x .45 x 2 / 25.4) + 17 = 25.33"

So you can see that in the rear, the new tires would be 26.25 - 25.33 = 0.92" smaller in outer diameter, which is a pretty major change. That will throw off your speedometer and odometer. It will also increase your wheel/fender gap all around (moreso in the rear obviously). Again I'm not sure that it is unsafe to run those tires, but I would not recommend going that far out of spec with regards to the tire O.D.

You can vary OEM width plus or minus 20mm no problem. Plenty of no-VDC members run the same tires all around.
