Cleaning rims
is there any other way of cleaning the black stuff off the rims except for just rubbing it? its not rust
because it really doesnt come off if you just rub it with a towel with soap and water
i have to like scrap it off with a knife but that scratches my rims?
any suggestions from people with rims?

Personally, I use Eimann Fabrik Hi-Intensity cleaner (diluted 1:4 with distilled water) on my BBS wheels. It breaks up the brake dust, that black residue you see on your wheels, and makes it easy to wash off. Here's other suggestions from another forum:

What you should do is this, and brake dust will never stick again:
What you need: Dawn soap, water, sponge (no brush), clay bar, clay bar lube, synthetic wax- the same one you'd use on your car.
If you do this once, you'll never have to do the whole process again. Take the wheels off, and clean them up real nice with soap and water. Lube them up, use the clay bar to take off the chunks of solid crap that never seems to come off with soap and water. Wax the wheels. If you clean your wheels every two weeks and wax once a month, your wheels will look new everytime you soap them down. After you wax it, dont use dawn soap again, use regular car wash soap.

From your pic, you really need to take your rim to a wheel specialist. You may be under the impression that rust sits on top of the chrome film of your wheel. It does not. Rust has penetrated the chrome film and can begin eating away the base metal underneath. It looks like the chrome has become so thin in that area, it may have to be recoated. Very expensive to strip and replate, but it can be done. If it were me, I'd find something to prevent the rust from spreading and not redo the entire coating.
If you want more advice, it might be helpful to know type and model of wheel. Is this the only place where rust is showing up?

aluminum foil and coca-cola will work in removing the rust. i think the oil you think you see is the polish working.it is normal for the polish to turn black when using it. wax the wheels after polishing fo best results.
