Hello there. The Z comes with TPS. I am getting my rims in less then a week. And it will be the PIaa wheels. Has anyone still got the TPS working with aftermarket wheels?? If so what did you need in order to use the stock TPS with your aftermarket wheels??

thanks

Well just make sure you tell the place that installs ur tires on ur rims to install the TPS. i have aftermarket rims on mine and had no problem. they just take them out of one tire and put them in the new ones, then mount. i think thats the extent of it.

someone else may be able to answer this better.

The sensors won't fit all aftermarket wheels. If they won't fit directly, you can always use the banding method to attach them. For more info, check out this thread....

thanks guys. So when you say the tire shop has to replace it, do you mean the manufacture of the tire, or the shop that is putting on my tires??

hahaha who told you that? what if you already sold your stock wheels, then the tire shop is responsible for buying you new ones.

I still have my stock Wheels. One of Nissan's vendor, just shot me an e-mail saying that you should be able to fit your stock TPS on your aftermarket wheels.

Can someone confirm that its true?? Also the shop that provides the TPS should be from the shop i buy the tires from or the wheels??? Because if its the shop that i bought my wheels from, will charge like $110 for the sensors.

Not exactly - a manufacturer or shop can't disable the TPMS system. You can however replace OEM wheels those that don't have TPMS sensors in them.

So basically i just need to get new TPS system to put on the aftermarket wheels?? I dont understand when you guys are saying that the shop should give you TPS system. Is it the shop that i bought the wheels from or the shop that i bought the tires from, or is it the shop that will be installing the wheels??

Are they suppose to provide it for free or i just have to pay for it, but they provide it..

sorry for all the questions, but i want to know exactly what i need to do so i can have all the parts i need when they install the wheels.

You have to get the ones from your stock wheels removed, and transfered over at your own cost. They aren't responsible for that, DROPPEDIT2WCE doesn't have is facts straight, as far as working in your wheels, PIAA makes an adapter for it to work, but I dont think they will fit right in.

A few months ago I bought a set of winter wheels/tires and last week I ordered a set of summer wheels/tires. Both sets I opted out of the ~$400 option to get TPMS installed, and I do not want to remove them from the stock wheels/tires because I want that set to be intact when I put them back on to eventually sell the car or trade it in.

What I did instead is dig up my time capsule where I hid my tire pressure gauge, dusted it off, and put it in the car so I can check tire pressures manually once in a while. I can deal with the yellow tire pressure light being on all the time. I've been looking at it all winter and it doesn't bother me. And it saved me the expense and aggravation of either transferring over the OEM TPMS system or purchasing new ones. So that's how I handled the situation.

we not only sell PIAA wheels, we have the proper spacers needed to reinstall the factory TPMS sensors without using bands

the factory TPMS sensors will NOT drop right into the PIAA wheel

Would that be some type of sleeve to go over the valve stem prior to inserting them through the hole in the wheel?
