Default How low of a set before fend modding is a must

Just like the title. I'm shopping around for my first set of wheels for my Z. How low of an offset before having to roll/cut/shave fenders is a must. I'm most likely looking at some 19x9/9.5 x 19x10/10.5 Volks or Work wheels. Tires i'm looking to go with would probably be 245/35/19 and 275/30 or 35/19.

I would like to get a low enough offset with without having to mod my fenders. Any tips, words of advise, opinions, etc are greatly appreciated.

thanks.

seems like some people are really having trouble with tires rubbing... I'm running 20x8.5" all the way around on a 2-1/4" drop with no rubbing or touching in the fender wells at all four corners. Tires are 245/35-20 nitto 555's
If you do not want to roll or cut fenders but still rub with 19"s or 20"s you can go with a 30 series tire, the secret is to order it wider than say my 245 for my 8.5" rims, this will give you about the same ride quality as a 35 series (kinda rough on crappy roads) ie: if i was having trouble with rubbing as an alternative to fender rolling or cutting I would change to a 255/30-20

contact a good wheel and tire shop like No Limit Inc. 410-426-RIMS

you should be able to do a set of staggered rims 20x8.5 (front) 20x10.5 (rear) on a 1.75" drop w/ no rubbing if a good shop correctly sizes the tires. call the guys listed above.

its not all about the tire size my friend. also incorporate offsets and width. my TE37s are 10.5 in the rear with 275's which are stretched. I am lowered 1.2 inches and I rub. I had a 19x9 in the rear befire that w/ a 20 offset and had no issues.

yoichi,

What are the offsets to your TE37's? My car is drop with some NF210 springs, a 1.2" drop. I'm guessing a set of wheels with the sizes of 19x9.5 +17, 19x10.5 +18 would definitely cause some rubbage.

+1 I'm at +17/18 and it's the only reason why I am not dropped yet. At this offset you might need to look into a 50% cut on the inside also.

i say just roll your fenders, and you can run a setup with way more aggressive offsets and wider tires...

wow, who is doing most of your guys wheels!! sound like people are using quite a few mismatched offsets. A good shop should be able to put the correct wheels and tires on for you and adress any issues with rubbing. If No Limit can put 24's on a 745 with no rubbing 20x10.5" rears on a Z shouldn't be a problem...

Of course you can order wheels that won't rub in the correct offsets, but the stance isn't as aggressive, alot of us are willing to do the fender mods required to run low offset wheels for the aggressive stance and added lip

Going with 19X9.5 +17 offset(245/35/19), 19X10.5 +24 offset(275/35/19), what sort of drop do you guys recommend? The set of NF210s i have sitting in my garage would probably be too low of a drop. Suggestions...

and thanks guys for putting your 2 cents in.
