Question TCS and Slip light

I was always thought that if I lost traction, my SLIP light would come on. However, I don't believe that is the case.

I've tried to force my slip light to come on by accelerating hard from a complete stop, and I can feel my back wheels hop/slip (I am not launching or anything). However my SLIP light doesn't come on unless I go past the 4k RPM range and my wheels are still behaving the same way. Also note, that I am still in first gear at this point. When I did this test, I had my TCS ON, but I didn't understand why the SLIP light didn't come on until later even though I felt my car loosing traction after 2K RPM. Is there a reason why I am not seeing the slip light sooner?

Its going back to all these crashes, and stuff. When the car looses traction or the back end comes loose, its not like anyone is mentioning they see the SLIP light come on as a warning. When I had my incident in the rain and lost mad traction in the snow, my SLIP light never came on. After I did my test, I feel like there is a threshold level that needs to be met before that warning indicator flashes at you. Its kinda a retarded, because if I am loosing traction early, I'd like to know about it so I can correct it sooner. Sometimes you won't know you lost traction until its too late.

My light comes on even if i think about driving on ice. It's VERY sensitive. Had a little snow in my driveway backing out the other day and the slip light was on from the get go.

Mine kicks in after about a half a second of detecting wheel slip.

Mine's very sensitive with 225/50-17 front and 235/50-17 rear tires. TCS kicks in if I gun it downhill.
