Question Tires for the rain

Hey everyone.

I'm trying to decide which tires to buy - I live in Seattle, and you can imagine the amount of rain we get :-). I don't want to spend a fortune - the Z is my daily ride. I have an '05 Touring coupe.

Looking at TireRack and being a total tire noob, I see 3 OK-priced all-season options:

1) Kumho ECSTA ASX
2) Avon Tech M550 A/S
3) Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position

Which one would you pick? Or, would you go with something completely different?

On a side note, if you're in Seattle area - which shop would you recommend to get these installed?

Thanks!

Personally, I went with Cooper Zeon Sport A/S. Absolutely love this tire. Great traction, rain or shine.

Of the 3, I'd pick the Avon tires. Khumo's aren't bad either. I'd stay away from Bridgestones, nothing wrong with them, they're just pricey, imo.

I'd recommend omni wheel and alignment next to the kirkland infiniti dealership or truline

I would go with these Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 bro. I'm running on them for just 1 day and I'm already giving it thumbs up! They handle and stand wet surface like no other!

And yes I'm from Seattle =P

I see no problem with all-season tires on a 350Z. Just make sure that the speed rating is appropriate.

To AlvinHuyN: Summer tires aren't an option for me, thanks, though.

Side note: how important would you say the warranty on the tires is? Avon is the only one who doesn't have it; Kumho and Bridgestone offer 30k and 40k respectively.

BFGoodrich KDW2 is what I use for street/rain tires.

They are impressive in the wet!

Do you mean a warranty from the manufacture? Worthless. The tires are pro-rated.

DavidV, thanks so much for the Consumer Reports!

I'm looking at their ratings, and I'm wondering why whether I should just get the cheaper Sumomito-HRT+. Anyone have experience with those?

Thanks!

I just had the 960's put on about 3 weeks ago. I've driven them in light snow and hard rain. They are much better than the stock 040's summer tires in the wet. And I hear better in the dry as well.

Avon I hear are good, but they are made by cooper tire for tirerack. So I'm always a little leary of these kind of products.

Sigma is a good brand and they're made by Cooper. Totally irrelevant information for a Z, though.

I'm throwing the Eagle F1 GS-D3's out there also, best wet tire i have ever had. Michelin Pilot Sport is good too, don't try to be cheap when it comes to tires...you will regret it.

BFG KDW NT - They are awesome in wet weather... They can be a tad bit noisy at times - depending on the pavement of course...

THANK YOU! That's what I said! They're a bit more pricy, but I do like the ratings against hydroplanting. There are tons of puddles in Seattle

Out of your 3 choices, i personally prefer Bridgestone RE960AS PP. They are really good in wet condition.
