well Ive been catipulted into the rim market in the last week, so now I need to figure out what all this is.

what does it mean, what does a large offset mean vs a lower one?

how does 30 front, 35 back sound?

Basically, the higher the number, the more the wheel sticks under the car. Most peeps are finding that a 30-35 offset makes the wheel sit flush with the wheel well - just right.

The stock 18" touring or performance wheels have a 31mm offset. Nissan 350Z is correct, if you go higher than 31mm the wheels will be closer to the suspension or "tucked in" and the lower you go below 31mm the wheel will be pushed out to the edge of the car as compared to stock.

I am running in the mid to upper 20s on my rears and they are close to flush with the fender.

zeroday,

No, I didn't have to roll the fenders. Everything fits fine no rubbing. I will be lowering the car also. I have about 1.5" of room before things start to rub.

Here are some pics: https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&highlight=HRE

That is only true if you go with a rim of the same width. An 18x9 with +30 will stick out farther than an 18x8 with +30.

Also, stock offsets from the owners manual are
17s
17x7.5 +30 front, 17x8 +33 rear
18s
18x8 +30 front, 18x8 +30 rear
Track
18x8 +30 front, 18x8.5 +33 rear

2003z,

You are correct, different width rims produce different offsets. I found the owners manual numbers to be off slightly from actual measurements. The actual offset was +31.27mm measured with a digital micrometer. Close though.

I stand corrected! You would think something like the owner's manual would have good info, though!
