run flat tires
I have had four run flat tires for about a year now. Just lost presure in one of the rear tires last night and in looking at the back tires there is steel coming out of both of them. The front that are a little older are in great shape. I don't drive my car hard so that is not an issue. Took it to the Discout tire place and they say there is not warranty for miles and they generally run 10-15,ooo miles and have to be replaced.... at $300 a piece this seems like I am getting shafted... any comments from anyone out there.....
yeah, buy new tires. High performane tires for these cars generally last 10k-20k miles. If you get something a lil more bobo looking then you might squeeze 25k. Wires showing = tires are toast.
and yes, high performance tires for this car run $200-$400 each.

I have the bridgestone re050 runflats. They are nice tires but very costly to replace. they are convenient in that they let you drive about 50miles.you don't have to get your hands dirty at the moment.
Under normal driving for the Z(harder on tires than most driving) there are good rated tires that last 20,000-30,000 miles. Since yours only last half as long, double the price of them(with mounting) before you compare prices with the others. I doubt that it will make much sense to keep going with the run flats.

On another car, I switched from run-flats to PS2s, and was surprised how much better the tread life was.
Other than better tread life, you get a much smoother ride, save money on tires and even get better performance depending what tire you get. The runflats did have much better turn in though due to their stiff sidewall. One could counter this by running a higher tire pressure, maybe around 40psi, but the runflats will likely still have better turn-in.
