Default 07-07 350Z OEM rims similar to Porsche

Has anyone else noticed how similar the 350z stock 06-07 rims are to 06-07 Porsche Caymen S stock rims are to each other?

I saw a black one yesterday with stock rims that seem to be factory painted. I searched but could only find a red one. Check it out

What do you think of 350z 06-07 rims being painted like this but black? matching this pattern?

stock painted

stock unpainted

The two-color paint scheme is a little wild for me.

I'd vote against it. The Z's rims don't cut in and make a lip like the Porsche rims do. There is somebody on here that painted thier stock rims in a paint scheme similar to what you are describing though. I recommend checking out this thread...

There was some dude on here with a black 06 Z who painted his rims gold. Looked horrible.

The Cayman S OEM wheels are made by Ronal and are modeled after the Carrera GT's wheels (as is the paint scheme). You can get the wheels painted as an (expensive) option from the dealer.

IMO, the 06-07 rims would look good if the ENTIRE rim was powdercoated gunmetal, unlike those Cayman rims. There was some one on the board that had their 06 rims powdercoated black and it looked ok...I would just powdercoat the entire rim though.

Bright colours on rims, would show more stonechips too.

The two tone theme will look bad on the wheels.

Well, yeah, and have you ever noticed how similar the Z looks like a Porsche, especially the Caymen?

They don't call a Z a poor man's Porsche for nothing.
