Default Work Meister S2R questions

OK, I increased my wheel budget, so I am now really liking the Work Meister S2R's. But I have a couple questions.

1) I'm not loving the gold center cap. Does Work sell any other center caps? or would the wheel look good without the center cap.

2) Would running a non-staggered setup with 18x9.5 +20 all around be possible? would it look stupid?

3) If I did a staggered setup, what would be optimal for this wheel? 18x8.5 +22 front and 18x9.5 +20 rear?

I appreciate the input from the wheel gurus out there that are more knowledgeable than me.

^ Yep, I always wanted the S2R's but I wanted 19" diameter which they didn't offer, so I ended up with Super Rozzas instead. Nice looking, but lots of inertia!

Super Rozza

Really? VividRacing has them on their site......I guess they just haven't gotten around to removing them.

I Like the PIAA's too (almost same style), but I read the PIAA's are cast whereas the Works were forged. And for the same price (about $2400/set) I would rather forged than cast.

If I'm going to get a cast wheel, why not save money and get a knock off like the Stern Beast Face III? Is the PIAA going to be better than the Stern - which sells for 1/2 the price? If so, how?

Stern Beast Face III

PIAA Super Rozza

they might still have them listed, but they are no longer made

the PIAA are cast yes, but were 19 inches, vs the 18 inch of the S2R

The Equip 01 are still made, the Equip 02 are discontinued

What separates the Stern from a PIAA?

The PIAA are made using a low pressure casting technique, with a procedure similar to Enkei's MAT process (from the RPF1, NT03+M, AME wheels, etc). Producing a wheel from higher quality alloy, and low pressure molding, meaning far less porosity than traditional cast processes, and higher net strength. The Stern are your typical, high volume cast wheel. A far different manufacturing process, and far different net finish when one wheel is compared to another (ie, the finish on a PIAA wheel vs the finish on a Stern wheel are far different in appearance from one another). The PIAA are also a multipiece design, whereas the Stern are one piece, just produced to look like 2 piece as I recall.

That's the exact info I was looking for. Thank you.

Also keep in mind that while the PIAA super rozza is a two-piece wheel, the inner portion is actually welded to the rim so the wheel cannot be taken apart. The rivets are purely cosmetic. I'm not sure why PIAA went this way...cost savings I suppose, but you pay enough for the wheels that it should be a true two piece in my opinion (this would allow the lips to be easily refinished after they are worn, or allow the spokes to be painted easily, etc.).

I still really like the wheels, but I didn't do enough research before buying and found this out as I was taking them out of the box after delivery...
