Default Im so lost, No idea what to do when switching out my Stock Tires.

Im completely lost, in all fairness its my fault for not nowing hardly anything about cars but you gotta learn somtime. Ill probly get flamed for this but o well.

Im gettin a stock 2007 Z in 3 weeks, I want to have rims waiting for the day I get my car So I can get them installed ASAP.

I dont know JACK about tires/rims, from what ive read all I really understand is that there needs to be a balance between the Front and Back Tires on the 350z but im truly lost.

Im hoping to get 18 inchers but at this rate if I dont get some strait on help ill probly end up ordering the wrong stuff n screwing up my setup.

So please help me out, consider me retarded when it comes to wheels n try to teach me. I know ill get flamed by alot but chances are 1 guy will take pity on me haha.

look in the classifieds on here. a lot of used sets of rims and tires. and since theyre coming off of a Z already, you shouldn't have much to worry about.

Your car comes with 18s stock, why not keep the stock wheels then? Use the search button and start doing some research on what offset means, and what offset is good for our cars.

Why do you want new wheels / tires? Performance & handling? Looks? This will dictate what size and type of wheels and tires you will get.

Well do you want to keep basically the same look as the OEM rims? Like size wise and tire size wise?

I have ADRs there pretty nice for the money. Do you want wider tires in the back or same size? Is it going to be your daily driver?

Yep Daily driver, I would prefer whatever is more stable and puts out that extra performance.

If your on a budget go with the ADR's I dont really know much about offset so you would have to ask some one else about that.

You need a bolt pattern of 5.114.3 so if you want 18's get 18(size) x 5.114.3(bolt pattern).

The Z has staggered wheels I would recomend 8.5(front) and 9.5(rear) so if you ever want to go wider
you can.

As for tires 225/35R18(front) and 245/35R18(rear) those are the stock sizes and widths.

For a balance of performance/price I would recomend BF goodrich g-force KDW's.

I dont know a ton about wheels but this is just my opinion Im sure te experts will chime in tomorrow.

225/35R18 for Front and 245/35R18 Rear

How come I see

245/35r18 for front and 275/35R18 for rear mostly?

Thats the wider setup I was talking about and is why I was asking if you wanted to keep the same size tires. 245/35R18 and 275/35R18 is what I am running it gives you great traction(if you get teh right tires).

The first number is the width of the tire(245) the wider the more traction I think dont quote me. The second is the height of the sidewall(35) this affects the ride quality. and the last is the rim size(18)

Basically Id rather go with whats normal or most common for the first time just so I dont make mistakes, once I learn more ill venture out n try new things but till then ill stick to whats been done.

So 245/35R18 and 275/35R18 is what im thinking with some kind of ADR rims.

And you said that youd recomend BF goodrich g-force KDW's as the tire for those rims? So is this all the info I need to get to searching for a basic setup on a stock 07 coupe Z?

Yup that sounds good for the rims. BF goodrich KDW are amazing for the price and the tread life on them is pretty good so they will last you a while. You can also look into michelen PS2's and Goodyear Eagle F1's they are nice but really expensive and the tread does not last as long.

Oh and for the rims make sure they are staggered this is IMPORTANT! 8.5(front) and 9.5(rear) you can go bigger but DO NOT go smaller because you wont be able to fit the 245 and 275s on anything smaller.

Now that you said I can go bigger, how much bigger?

Only reason im gettin 18 inch rims is because I prefer not to lose the performance you normally would by going wit 19 inch rims.

So considering they are 18 inch rims id like them to look as big as possible haha. N thanks for your help man, you really helped me out.

Sick avatar also.

What I mean by bigger is the width of the rims.

Something like this is what your looking for http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/18-AD...spagenameZWDVW Those are the specs that I am talking about.

Thanks man I think its funny.

35 is not the height of the sidewall per say, it's the percentage in height of the sidewall from the the width of the tires.

I know that made no sense but if you take 275 add a decimal to 275 and get 27.5 and divide by 2.54 you'll get tire width in inches 10.8" then you take that and multiple the sidewall's profile 35 but make sure you change that to a percentage .35 or 35% and you'll get sidewall height in inches which is 3.78 or 3.8 inches rounded off. The thing I used can be used to find tire width and height and sidewall height in inches.

if you like millimeters instead you can still take 275 and multiple by 35% and get sidewall height in millimeters which is 96.25mm

The basics:
tire width is in Millimeters
order in numbers as seen on a tire 275/40 - 18 ZR

1st number 275=tire width mm
2nd number 40 = profile / sidewall height
last number- 18" = what size wheels will fit the tire

ZR/Z/Y/W/K the letters after the numbers are speed ratings Z/ZR being the fastest I believe usually 180 mph +.

Wheels are another issue
what your looking for is a bolt pattern in 5 x 114.5

5 = how many bolts there are and
114.5 is PCD it has to do with the distance between the bolts or something to that extent.

offset is how far or close you wheels are on your car - offset will put your wheels further out on the car ,more towards the road and + offset will put the wheels closer to your car, closer to center of the vehicle.

go use tirerack and read up I know your getting your car and your excited and you want wheels but if you have enough time asking for help you should learn more about your vehicle. You might say that thats why your on here but there are so many of these questions every month that if you searched you could find the answers within a couple hours of reading. Maybe less.

In the end it's what you want on your car, how much money do you have to spend, do you want ADR's or something nicer? (no offense intended to above poster). Do some research and then buy, have fun!

^ correct. a better tire size is:

245/40/18 front
275/40/18 rear

35 series profile would look like a$$ if you not going to lower your car significantly. as far as offset goes, don't rock anything high then a 30.
