I was just wondering what some of you guys would do if you get a flat on one of your bigger aftermarket tires and wheels, since the spare is smaller? I have 19" axis hiro wheels all around but if i got a flat i dont know what i would do. Im pretty sure it would be real bad to but that dinky spare on with all the other wheels and tires being so much bigger.

Put it on and drive where to get it fixed. I dont know how tall the spare is , but it should work just fine. Your 19 shouldnt be taller than the stock tires if you sized them right.

 

If you have VDC or TCS, turn it off before driving with your spare mounted.

FYI, changing the wheel sizes (correctly) doesn't affect the function of the spare with regards to fit since the overall diameters are the same as stock. Like others have mentioned, simply turn the VDC off and you should be good if you installed the correct sized aftermarket tires.

 

It just seems to me that it would pull hard to one side especially if the spare was up front. The spare tire seems so much smaller and maybe not as tall as my aftermarket tires. Although i havent even looked at my spare, so i dont even know the dimensions.

 

MEASURE IT!!! You will be amazed

 

you don't even have to measure it, put it into a tire size calculator and it'll spit out the height for you, compare to your aftermaket tires, and you'll be set

 

so if the spare is indeed shorter than your aftermarket wheel, all that will happen is that your car will lean and sit funny. all the little hondas will point and laugh. its no big deal honestly. just make sure to get it taken care of asap so that way no problems arise plus it is just not asethicaly pleasing

 

I did get a flat on the rear about a month back. The spare worked fine and I have 19's with 275/35s with a 1" drop. Of course I was only a mile from home so I nursed it and never went faster than 25mph and it did drive a little weird.

The bad news was my rim was chewed up on the inside lip pretty bad from only traveling about 40-50 yards on the flat.

Oh well, I took the opportunity to upgrade my wheels/tires after that.

Just remember, you might want to remove any spacers/ shim rings that you have before you mount the spare.

I had 18's on my 300zx and i had a flat on my right rear tire. I slapped on the dinky little 16 inch rim and drove home, which was 55 miles away. It was a bit scary because the road was kinda bad, but besides that i made it home fine, just drive slow.

 

AAA. Cost me $29/yr.

 

Hello! Brilliant suggestion… Best advice on this thread. Calling Triple-A does this:

1) Safely transports your car to a location where you can get a new tire or an interim tire.
2) Avoids the horrible experience of changing a tire in a dangerous spot (shoulder of road).
3) No skinned knuckles
4) No searching for the jack and other tools
5) No reading the owner’s manual to see how the jack works or selecting a position to place the jack
6)Avoiding vehicle damage trying to do something you hopefully rarely do (changing a tire and driving on that skinny little spare).
