As the old adage goes "your actual mileage varies". There's a thread here recently discussing Potenza mileage. Some people only get 10k out of them, others get 50k. Depends on how you drive them.

Default I'm at...

26 thousand Kms and they still seem ok. Will be swapped out when my new wheels arrive though. Clearly depends on car use and driving habits but I would be confidant in mine for another season.

Perhaps you could use this as an excuse to get new wheels? Seems to work with most people haha

I got 8K out of them.

Replaced them with RE050, don't think they'll last much longer though.

29k for the rears..but fronts are still got some life..but got got new wheels and replaced them.I think it's a good time to get rims when your tires wear out since you can get a tire/wheel package mounted/balanced together.

My stock rears lasted 6 months, due largely in part to it being a 300hp car and my foot being heavy at launches.

After those, my much foot got much lighter.

Some members have to replace the rear tires at 5,000 miles. Others 30,000.

At 23,500 miles they're at 5/32nds. 10/32 is new. 2/32 is replacement. Probably will get another 5k.

I've started shopping for replacements but haven't settled on anything. I'm surprised there's not more tire review info on this site.

With 5,800 miles on them (OEM Potenza RE040's), the fronts are like brand new and the rears are almost shot. About 3/32 of tread wear left. The dealer wont replace them and I am now dealing directly with Bridgestone. I have had the car for a little over a year, bought it brand new and obviously don't drive it that much and am not hard on it at all. In fact, some fellow enthusiasts say I baby it too much. I am trying to get the rears replaced. Nissan North America directed me Bridgestone I might add.

^^ Less than 6K on the rears, and they are worn out? And the front tires are OK? Something is very wrong here.

Things to check:
  • Brake calipers on the rear
  • Emergency brake
If the brakes and suspension check out mechanically (Any problem noted with the brakes?), it must be defective tires, but that is a rare occurence with summer-performance tires.

Spike -- Thanks for the reply. The stealership checked everything out yesterday and said its "normal treadwear" and the wear is "uniform". Nice buzz words but words that have meaning in the business. I am sure that the dealer did not check the brakes or even remove the wheels. Anyway, the local STS guy checked them out this morning - per Bridgestone's request and am waiting to hear the results. The fellow prepared me for a 'pro rata" deal to be offered by Bridgestone. I said to him that I appreciated his work and will wait and see. PS: STS measured the tread depth at 4/32 for each tire compared to the dealer's 3/32. Not sure if that means anything. I am not settling for anything but two new tires. The dealer already told me that it will not pass inspection this September.
