Also my biggest fear is running fender liners and the back of my head light units.

Do any of you guys even have issues rubbing those during turns or full lock? With my stock wheels it's close. Going 10's I can only see it getting closer if not rubbing the back of my lights/wires/liners out.

Or do you guys just not run with liners?

 

CK, methinks you're overthinking/needlessly worrying about this. If you want to run +15 offsets, just figure on rolling and never worry about any of this. Hundreds, if not thousands of people have run this combination over the years, some with clearance issue, some not.




But yeah, if you don't want to roll (or at least lessen the chance of it being a necessity), go with +22 or more offset. My 10.5 +22s fit no issue and now kinda wish they were also 15 with so much clearance - but then I can't really judge anymore because cinnamon fender roll.

 

I am! Ive learned to live by "Buy once cry once"... But before I do that single cry I make dam sure I pick and end up getting the exact thing I want/need.


Especially with wheels. Nothing can ruin the look of a car faster than a jacked up set of wheels or crap fitment lol

Yer totally right about wheels/tires being the most important thing you do to your car for both performance and aesthetics.

Just saying that ANYtime you mess with the size/offset, one runs the risk of interference, stock or dropped. Lot depends on the car and loading. If I recall, you have Bilstein COs. With those, at stock height, you should be fine with +15 offset with so much less body movement/spring compression on new units.

Were you at stock height, stock suspension, might pick up some bump/pothole bangin'.

If you lower - and you will; why else coilovers - then you just need to consider putting it down to height THEN rolling if any issues. I went forever without rolling my fenders (rear offsets in 22-29 range) until just a few months ago when I'd get the occasional rear bump on my RPF1s. Since, not a single issue. My rolls are almost full up (around the ~100 degrees of the upper lip and no cracking before I cleaned and u'coated - just in case).

 

Yea I grabbed the B14 coils.

And I plan to be as low as I can go with out rubbing. Mostly to the height of most of you guys here a few MM above the tire.

Again I don't mind rolling, I have my buddies roller in my garage for it. I just wanna make sure even after rolling I'll be fine. Nothing worse than rubbing tie rods or fenders even after rolling and preparing for it lol

 

just take your time rolling, heat.... first roll about 1/4 or less of what you want the end result to be.... heat, a little more roll, heat, roll... you get the point

 

someone already answered your above question but i ran for about 500 miles without rolling my rear fenders. I rolled them due to a steep incline to go onto my driveway which was eating my tire and also a slight bump on a certain highway if i chose to drive on it. I did not want to chew my tires up so i did a slight roll. Its no big deal and could be done in a few minutes.

Now the only way i rub is on big bumps on the road it'll scrape for a second without affecting my tires (due to the roll). My car has about a finger and a half gap on all from fenders

 

Yea I e rolled a few cars before. I remember my s13 I didn't even heat we just mounted the roller and went to town. But that paint was MUCH more forgiving than on the Z.

Another benefit to buying this wrecked. I got to play with the jacket up hood and fender tips that chipped a little to get a feel for how the paint and metal used did with heat and pulling.

 

Just be glad that there are people who do this and that there is even such a thing as a roller that you can buy for $40.

Better than the old "shove in a baseball bat and slowly move the car back and forth until baked" method.

Yea I think that was before my time thank god. By the time I was old enough to drive the rollers were already a common tool.

 

what suspension setup are you running? I Really like the look of your car. Hopefully my silver looks that good with my RPF1's when they get mounted.

 

I think he's on koni yellows and eibach lowering springs.

And yes, that's correct. But besides the damping, none of that would be any good without roll correction and a hand selected assortment of alignment and steering gear from the parts bins at SPC, SPL, Nismo. Not to mention a damm good alignment tech!

I loved 285 square, right now I'm waiting for my 275's to wear down up front so that I can go back to a square setup.

Personal preference for me. It is slightly more difficult to turn the wheel since 285's are little heavier than 275's, but I also upgraded from base cast steel calipers to Brembo calipers which brought down the weight at each corner and do not mind the negligible additional resistance anyway.

 

will the stock TPMS sensors work just fine in my RPF1's?
