PLEASE HELP. quick question about oem tire size and slip light
sorry, i searched for the last 20 minutes and didn't find any type of thread.
so i just bought a 2004 roadster. On the car, i don't believe it has VDC because all i see is a TCS button. The car comes with the oem 18s. i've notice the front and rear tires are 225/45/18. Is this right? i thought the rear are suppose to be 245/45/18 like my 350z performance model. I saw the "SLIP" light come one earlier for a second. Not sure what it's from. I think i have to bring it back to the dealers now.

The previous owner did this because it makes the car handle in a very neutral manner and minimizes understeer and oversteer. It is often used in tracking the car. If memory serves me correctly the stock fronts are usually 245's and the rear's are 265's. One of the popular aftermarket wheel set-ups are 255's in front & 275 or 285's out back. Depending on the tires and design of the wheel the rear fenderwell may have to be rolled. Rolling the fenders can be done with a blowtorch (to make the paint flexible and prevent it from cracking) and a baseball bat, OR by using a fender rolling machine ( you can rent one or have a shop do it for you). The stock ECU is designed to activate the slip mode if the difference in wheel sizes exceed ~18%. At this point I would not service the car for this. I suggest you find a buddy with the stock rims, borrow them and drive for awhile to see if the slip light comes on.

stock tires for the 350z are staggered the fronts are 225/45/18 or 17 i think? and 245/45/18 or 17 i could be a little off but 225 should be the stock tire size. Was on my 06 anyways i put 245 up front for more neutral ie less understeer but now i have aftermarket wheels. Spike runs a all squared setup as well and he loves his im sure he will chime in later tonight he knows his stuff pretty well.

If your car has 225/45-18” all around, the rears are slightly short (overall diameter on the rear is 2.67% less than the stock setup). Although this is a minor difference, I would guess that it could cause TCS to activate erratically.
Since you recently purchased the car and the dealer delivered the car with improperly sized rear tires, you should definitely go back and ask for replacement rear tires.
